To support TIP Unit in the WHO African Region to provide high quality office suite and secretarial services that will assist the head of section to organize, assign and deliver documents in a timely manner.
Description of duties:
- Assist with preparation of documents, assignation of documents and liaising with technical units and others involved;
- Check that outgoing documents are presented in accordance with WHO and department styles and format;
- track and record receipt of documents;
- Use appropriate tracking tools, follow-up on and ensure that target dates and deadlines are met, and that documents and queries are responded to in a timely manner;
- Use the appropriate software and computer tools to manage translation projects and data;
- Perform other related responsibilities as assigned.
Required qualifications:
- Essential: Completion of secondary school education or equivalent technical, office suite or secretarial training.
- Desirable: Knowledge in translation practices and/or computer-assisted translation (CAT) workflow processes.
Experience:
- Essential: At least five years of relevant experience.
- Desirable: Experience in a similar support position in WHO or another UN agency is an asset.
Languages:
- Intermediate knowledge of Portuguese. Expert knowledge of English and/or French

Skills:
- Thorough knowledge of secretarial skills including typing ability
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to deal with staff at all levels

- Tact, discretion and ability to keep information confidential are essential.
