Your team
Your role
- translate texts from English into Hungarian or Maltese in the fields of economics, finance, central banking and banking supervision;
- revise and proofread texts written in Hungarian or Maltese;
- identify, extract and compile terminology in Hungarian or Maltese;
- work with state-of-the-art language technology tools, including machine translation, and maintain translation memories in Hungarian or Maltese;
- work collaboratively with other translators to produce ECB communications in Hungarian or Maltese;
- contribute to the Language Services Division’s overall strategy by providing ideas, embracing innovation and being part of the evolution of the translation industry.
Qualifications, experience and skills
- a master’s degree or equivalent in translation, modern languages or another relevant field (see How you can join us for details on degree equivalences);
- in addition to the above, a minimum of four years’ experience as a professional translator working from English into Hungarian or Maltese in fields relevant to the position (e.g. economics, finance, central banking or banking supervision);
- experience with computer-assisted translation tools, AI-supported translation and/or post-editing machine translation;
- a mastery-level (C2) command of Hungarian or Maltese and an advanced (C1) command of English, according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
- experience as an in-house translator working from English into Hungarian or Maltese;
- an intermediate (B1) command of at least one other official language of the EU, according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
