Location:Hybrid/Transport Strategy Centre, Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, South Kensington CampusAbout the role:An opportunity has arisen for a Transport Analyst to join the ) at Imperial College London.The successful applicants will join a globally recognised applied research and consultancy group, focused on public transport. The TSC works with over 130 providers of public transport globally. We are a growing, multidisciplinary team combining people from industry, consultancy and academic backgrounds. We would welcome applications from recent graduates and post-graduates, as well as applications from persons with more experience.What you would be doing:You will play a critical role in the TSC’s mission of helping to improve public transport worldwide. The position will include compiling, analysing and synthesising qualitative and quantitative information from public transport providers globally. You will draw meaningful insights into performance, industry trends and practice using unique datasets, working directly with industry partners.You will gain a strong understanding of public transport operations, planning, economics and policy.What we are looking for:
- A strong undergraduate degree (2:1 or equivalent) in a discipline with a significant numerate content such as Civil Engineering, Urban/Transportation Planning, Geography, Mathematics, Economics, Business Studies, Data Science or another related field.
- Knowledge of, or a strong interest in, the policies, practices, operations and planning/economics of public transport.
- Strong analytical skills with an ability to interpret data and draw meaningful insights from information and datasets
- Good Excel / spreadsheet skills or the aptitude to learn such tools quickly to support the accurate and appropriate analysis and presentation of data
- Good interpersonal and collaboration abilities, including competence in working in teams and interacting well with professionals at all levels
- Diligent, with excellent attention to detail
- Self-motivated with an ability to exercise initiative and work independently when necessary
- Fluency in written and spoken English
- Willing and able to travel worldwide for short durations of not usually more than 10 days.
