About us
Townsville Aboriginal and Islander Health Service (TAIHS) provides a range of medical and clinical services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people living in Townsville and the surrounding region. Our health services are provided by a dedicated team of Doctors, Indigenous Health Professionals, Nurses, Visiting Specialists and Allied Health Professionals.
TAIHS seeks to improve health and social outcomes for the community through strategic partnerships, advocacy for needs, promotion of awareness and education in improved health and social practices, promotion of knowledge and understanding of underlying issues and unique needs and development of the evidence base.

About the position
The Transport Officer provides safe, professional, courteous transportation and medical courier services for TAIHS clients as required. This position is also responsible for working in collaboration with the Facilities and Infrastructure team in regards to the general and mechanical maintenance of TAIHS vehicles.

To be suitable for this position, your qualifications, experience & certifications for the role will consist of:
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Safe driving record
- In depth understanding of the Queensland road rules
- Demonstrated understanding of the Workplace Health and Safety risks and requirements associated with transporting passengers/clients
- Ability to read and follow maps/GPS
- Experience in transportation of clients or community groups (desirable)
- Experience using handheld 2-way communication
Required Licenses and Checks
- Ability to pass a National Police Check – no Serious/Criminal/Court Records
- Current Blue Card (Queensland’s Working with Children Check)
- Current C Class Drivers Licence (Qld)
- Current First Aid and CPR
- COVID-19 Vaccination: It is a condition of employment for this position to be, and remain, vaccinated against COVID-19
- Proof of qualifications and current registration (as appropriate) are to be provided prior to commencement of employment
Practical Requirements
- Work outside of normal hours of duty may be required
- Travel across the region may be required
- Ability to perform the physical requirements of the position in a safe manner
