Position Summary
Western Resource Advocates (WRA) is seeking candidates for our Clean Energy Summer Internship Program. The Transportation Electrification Intern will provide supporting research on the viability and impact of various state and local policies on reducing greenhouse gas emissions from the transportation sector. The Transportation Electrification Intern will play an important role in helping to further understand, strategize and maintain research priorities the Transportation Electrification team is planning to engage on focused on accelerating the adoption of electric vehicles and deployment of charging infrastructure. The intern will report to the Transportation Electrification Manager and work closely with WRA’s Transportation Electrification team, with opportunities to learn and grow while working with other clean energy professionals.

Location
This position may work remotely in one of the states in which the Clean Energy Program is active (Arizona, Colorado, Nevada, New Mexico, Utah, and Wyoming), in one of our six offices, or a hybrid of the two. WRA has offices located in Boulder and Denver, CO; Carson City, NV; Phoenix, AZ; Salt Lake City, UT; and Santa Fe, NM. The supervisor for this position is based in Colorado and works from the Denver office.

Compensation
Interns are paid $20.00 per hour. This is a part-time internship with an expectation to work 15-20 hours a week over the course of the internship (approximately 14-16 weeks). WRA regularly works with students to help them obtain school credit for their internships. Since this is a temporary internship position, interns are not eligible for any benefits, including, but not limited to: vacation and sick leave; health, vision, and dental insurance; life, short-, and long-term disability insurance; and the 401(k)-retirement plan. WRA is happy to loan interns a laptop for the duration of their internship.
Timeline
The internship will take place during the Summer of 2025. While the specific dates are flexible, the preferred start date will be in May 2025, and the internship will end in August 2025. This is a part time internship with an expectation to work 15-20 hours a week over the course of the internship (approximately 14- 16 weeks). Weekly hours can also be flexible depending on the availability of the intern. The internship is allotted a set number of hours overall, so interns can choose to work more hours per week if they desire up to 40 hours per week, but this will reduce the overall length of the internship.
