Department Summary

Established in 2012, the Transportation Services Department’s goal is to provide customer-oriented parking and sustainable transportation programs and services to students, employees, and visitors to the University of Oregon.

Transportation Services is an auxiliary unit that covers its expenses and operations through revenue generation, largely through permit sales, meter revenue, events and citations. Transportation Services’ annual budget is approximately $4 million. Transportation Services maintains more than 3,800 parking spaces on or adjacent to campus in more than 60 lots and two multi-level parking garages.

Transportation Services is a unit within Campus Services in the Finance and Administration portfolio. Finance and Administration is a vibrant and varied portfolio serving all aspects of campus life. Our employees perform a wide range of functions including offering essential financial tools and support to the university’s many departments, providing key resources to employees, and keeping campus safe, clean, accessible and beautiful.

Position Summary

The Field Generalist- Maintenance is responsible for all parking lot, pay station, and access/revenue control equipment maintenance; ensures university owned parking lots are kept in a safe, clean, and organized manner. This position ensures all lot signage is up to date, accurate and conforms to the University of Oregon Outdoor Sign Plan. Responsible for all pay station money collections, including multi-space meters, and Columbia Garage parking access and revenue control equipment. Performs daily checks to verify special events hooding requests are complete and accurate. Conducts limited parking enforcement.

This position is overseen by the Assistant Director of Field Operations. Performance is reviewed on an annual basis. Evaluations are geared to increase knowledge and identify areas for training opportunities.

DRIVING REQUIRMENT:
It is an essential requirement of this position to qualify for and maintain UO driver’s certification eligibility, which includes maintaining an Oregon driver’s license throughout employment in this position.

Minimum Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED.
• 2 years post-secondary education and/or 2 years experience, which must include a minimum of one year parking maintenance, pavement maintenance, or public contact experience.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Ability to obtain a University of Oregon driver certification, with van endorsement.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working in higher education.
• Experience maintaining parking-specific equipment.
