The assignment is initially set for 230 days over a 12-month period.The Green Climate Fund (“GCF”) is a multilateral fund created to make a significant and ambitious contribution to the global efforts towards attaining the goals set by the international community to combat climate change.  GCF will contribute to the achievement of the ultimate objective of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). In the context of sustainable development, GCF will promote the paradigm shift towards low-emission and climate-resilient development pathways by providing support to developing countries to limit or reduce their greenhouse gas emissions and to adapt to the impacts of climate change, taking into account the needs of those developing countries particularly vulnerable to the adverse effects of climate change.

The Secretariat of the Fund seeks to recruit a Travel Support Consultant to join its team at its headquarters in Songdo, Republic of Korea, for a period of 12 months.

Duties and responsibilities

The Consultant will report to the Events Management Specialist (Head of Events Management and Travel Unit). The Consultant will be responsible for but not limited to:

  • Supporting the review of travel requests and processing travel authorizations in accordance with the GCF travel policy;
  • Acting as a focal point for regular communication with travelers and travel agency as relates to the processing of travel requests and facilitation of travel arrangements;
  • Supporting the analysis and computation of quotations as may be necessary for the purposes of corporate travel,
  • Assisting with the administration of expense processing as relates to corporate travel and events, including but not limited to filing, adjustments/reallocations,
  • Supporting the team as deemed necessary. This may include organizing meetings, preparing relevant documentation, liaising with other teams on the operational aspects such as procurement, taking minutes at meetings, and circulating summaries.

Required experience and qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Masters Degree;
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience. Experience in events management and/or travel industry (airline, travel agency) is strongly preferred;
  • Experience with Oracle-based, SAP-based or similar ERP systems is a distinct advantage.
  • Experience in an international organization equivalent to the United Nations system of administration in scope and setting;
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative;
  • Strong competence and autonomy in the use of standard software programmes: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Access; good internet search skill is a plus;
  • Excellent communication and inter-personal skills;
  • Fluency in English is essential (written and spoken); working knowledge of another UN language as well as working knowledge of Korean an advantage;
  • Flexibility and availability to work outside of the regular working hours is required for this position.
