Organizational Context
The Finance Team within the Department of Finance and Support Services (DFSS) is responsible for the corporate, project, and financial services that contribute to the business and operating foundation for the successful delivery of IDLO’s strategic plan. It manages the overall financial resources essential for the full implementation of IDLO’s programming and corporate activities by providing a range of services and solutions for organizational planning, budgeting, treasury, payments, payroll, financial accounting, and reporting. It furthermore maintains all accounts for IDLO by monitoring.
Under the general supervision of the Head of Finance, the Treasury Officer will lead efforts on multiple core Treasury operations and payments compliance consistent with IDLO policies and procedures. The Treasury Officer will proactively take ownership of a range of duties including but not limited to the resolution of banking and financial service inquiries, comprehensive analysis, and conclusions on operating and payments activities, and execution of treasury compliance activities related to banking, payments, and investments. S/he will also act as a back-up to the Financial Accountant under the Corporate Finance Unit, processing payments with the bi-weekly payment rounds, processing payroll, managing vendors in the ERP system, processing cash transactions, and handling other ad-hoc tasks as necessary.
Specifically, the incumbent will be responsible for the following duties and tasks:
1) Cash & Bank management:
- Developing robust short- and medium-term cash flow forecasts and providing timely and accurate management information.
- Manage the intercompany fund transfers, intercompany borrowing/loans as well as the reimbursement payments of each company. Cash management including intercompany subsidiary funding and related journal entries and other payment requests worldwide.
- Work with IDLO banks and evaluate bank services capability, monitor bank performance and recommend appropriate action.
- Draft new and updated bank Power of Attorneys as the business need arises in coordination with both external and internal stakeholders.
2) Investment Management:
- Planning, managing, and optimizing cash balances available for investment.
- Booking investment movements in the organization’s accounting system
- Monitoring investment performance.
3) Treasury Risk & Compliance:
Work with banking partners to evaluate existing bank relationships and available bank products and pricing; complete compliance reporting;
- Responsible for management and maintenance of the various Treasury Service Agreements with banks and other financial institutions;
- Engaging with finance and business leaders to raise awareness and understanding of best practice in treasury management and help them to take timely and appropriate action to achieve benefits;
- Provide management reporting on the progress of the compliance activities, escalate issues promptly, and advise on decisions required.
- Update and maintain users on multiple global banking portals as requested; work with the legal team and banks for compliance requests, maintain/update bank accounts signatories and resolutions; maintain a database of existing bank accounts and analyze bank charges for potential savings.
4) Liquidity Planning:
Responsible for managing the liquidity forecast for IDLO bank accounts;
- Maintain a monthly rolling forecast in coordination with the respective finance units;
- Communicate to senior management major deviations to the forecast;
- Make business decisions based on the current and projected liquidity levels.
5) Treasury analyst:
- Providing regular financial reporting and management information related to the treasury through the evaluation of data from various sources and systems;
- Create forecast vs. actuals analysis to determine if any measures are needed for improvement of planning quality;
- Producing and enhancing the suite of treasury reporting such as month-end reconciliations on investment income and foreign exchange exposure, including support for the month-end close process;
- Analyze FX exposure by appropriately reconciling and checking on the reporting of both unrealized and realized exchange rate gains and losses for IDLO accounts on a monthly basis; work with Head of Finance, the Director of Finance and Support Services Departments, and banks to develop hedging strategies.
IDEAL CANDIDATE PROFILE
Education and work experience
- A graduate degree in business, finance, or related field is required or a first level university degree from an accredited institution in finance, business administration, or another related field with an additional 2 years of experience than listed below.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of professional experience in treasury management operations including liquidity management, cash flow forecasting, investment management, and financial risk management in an international organization.
- Experience with financial reporting systems is essential.
- Professional certification (e.g., Chartered Financial Analyst, Certified Treasury Professional) is a plus.
Languages
- Fluent oral and writing skills in English are required.
- Working knowledge of another official language (Italian, French, Spanish or Arabic) is desirable.
Specific knowledge, skills, and competencies
- Significant experience in operational treasury management (including cash management and investments) for a large international organization.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Organized, accurate, and able to handle multiple tasks concurrently.
- Excellent understanding of the global banking network.
- Results-driven, self-motivated, flexible, seeks constant improvement, and is a team player.
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills (i.e., Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).
- Experience and knowledge using financial data analysis software such as Bloomberg, FactSet, and Refinitiv Eikon are preferred.
- Good communication skills; ability to build effective working relationships with bankers and internal counterparts.
TERMS AND CONDITIONS
For this internationally recruited affiliate position, IDLO shall offer the selected candidate a contract for 6 months.
IDLO shall offer the suitable candidate an annual salary in the range of Eur 55,000 and a benefits package including provident fund contribution, medical insurance, and leave entitlements in accordance with the IDLO Employee Regulations and Rules.
Salaries and benefits paid by IDLO to employees are exempt from taxation in Italy. IDLO employees are responsible for compliance with income tax laws of their country of nationality or residence and/or of any other relevant fiscal jurisdiction.
