The Kyle of Sutherland Fisheries Trust is creating a native tree nursery on land owned by Kyle
of Sutherland District Salmon Fishery Board. The nursery will help provide the Kyle Riverwoods
project with native species of local provenance which are becoming increasingly difficult to
source from large commercial tree nurseries. The tree nursery will also provide an opportunity
for the local community to engage with nature restoration in their area. Seed collection and
nursery care would provide a focal point for environmental awareness, connecting people to the
headwaters of the rivers upon which they live. Effort will be made to make the nursery an
accessible space for all ages and abilities, providing a learning opportunity for local school
children, and meeting space for local people to help fight feelings of isolation.

The Tree Nursery Manager will have the opportunity to guide the nursery layout and oversee the
construction process. The nursery is in the village of Ardgay, in the Scottish Highlands,
adjacent to the Gearrchoille Community Wood, which is home to 14 different tree species.
