About the Wild Chimpanzee Foundation:  

The Wild Chimpanzee Foundation (WCF) is a non-governmental organization dedicated to promoting the survival of the last remaining wild chimpanzee populations and their habitat, the tropical rainforest. We conduct conservation, education, and awareness campaigns to preserve biodiversity and support local communities. Ecological monitoring is one of our key conservation activities and has been carried out by WCF teams for nearly 20 years, with the development of a camera-trapping method since 2015.

Job description:

We are seeking two passionate and experienced Biomonitoring Officers to join our team. One position is open for biomonitoring activities in Liberia and another one in Côte d’Ivoire. As a Biomonitoring Officer, you will supervise and ensure the proper collection of data, particularly in the National Parks of Taï, Sapo, and Grebo-Krahn, in ecological corridors, and in the Cavally Nature Reserve.

Your responsibilities:

  • Supervise the work of Biomonitoring in Côte d’Ivoire / Liberia;
  • Supervise the management of databases from the various surveys;
  • Ensure the accuracy and quality of Biomonitoring databases;
  • Monitor the activities of video analysts;
  • Support the production of reports for the various biomonitoring surveys in collaboration with the biomonitoring experts and the WCF Director in Côte d’Ivoire;

Your profile:

  • Training: Master’s degree in biology, biodiversity, ecology, environment, nature conservation or a related field.
  • Experience: Prior professional experience in the field of biomonitoring, data collection, and in report writing (French – English) is essential.
  • Technical skills:
  • Excellent command of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint);
  • Knowledge of Biomonitoring techniques, and specialized computer tools (QGIS, SMART, CyberTracker, Distance, etc.);
  • Languages: Proficiency in French and English (written and spoken).
  • Personal skills:
  • Rigor;
  • Passion for conservation;
  • Strong listening and communication skills;
  • Good interpersonal skills and team spirit;
  • Ability to synthesize information and excellent written and oral communication skills in French;
  • Having a sense of organization, autonomy, and discipline in one’s work.

Others: Availability for frequent field travel.
