tendersglobal.net

We are looking for highly motivated and dynamic postdocs for three years positions to commence March 1st, 2024, or after agreement.

Our research
The interest of the research group is molecular and genetic mechanisms of embryonic development and birth defects. We have particular focus on heart development and congenital heart disease. We are using a multidisciplinary approach, where we combine genetic and genomic investigations of patients, with functional investigations based on embryonic tissues, cell models and zebrafish. Our ambition is to perform research on the highest level and publish in high-quality international journals. We have a very inclusive working environment and a large network of national and international collaborators.

More information about our research can be found at: https://icmm.ku.dk/english/research-groups/la-larsen-group/ .

Your job
Your job will focus on functional characterization of genes involved in congenital heart disease and heart development and characterization of possible extracardiac defects, including brain malformations. Focus in the projects will be on genes involved in vesicle mediated transport.

In vivo functional characterization of genes should be performed using zebrafish, thus documented expertise in zebrafish developmental biology is an advantage. The project will include CRISPR-cas9 based methods for gene targeting in zebrafish, phenotypic characterization of zebrafish larvae and methods for analysis of changes in developmental programmes, e.g. RNA sequencing, single cell sequencing and spatially resolved transcriptomics. Experiments in zebrafish will be supplemented with experiments in cell models and IFM analysis of embryonic tissues.

The post docs’s responsibilities will primarily consist of:

  • Research, including publication/academic dissemination duties.
  • Limited research-based teaching.

Profile
We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic scientist with the competencies and experience outlined below.

Essential experience and skills:

  • You have a PhD in cell biology or developmental biology.
  • Hands-on experience with zebrafish as model organism.
  • You have an active interest in developmental genetics, heart or brain development.
  • Proficient communication skills and ability to work in teams.
  • Excellent English skills written and spoken.

Desirable experience and skills:

  • Experience with developmental and molecular biology.

Place of employment
The place of employment is at the Department of Cellular and Molecular Medicine (ICMM), Panum, University of Copenhagen. We offer creative and stimulating working conditions in dynamic and international research environment. Our research facilities include modern laboratories and zebrafish facility.

Information on Department of Cellular and Molecular Medicine can be found at: https://icmm.ku.dk/english/

Scientific environment
The Department of Cellular and Molecular Medicine (ICMM) offers an ambitious scientific environment, with many different nationalities represented. ICMM aims to produce research with high international impact focusing on the functional cell, its genetic components and molecular cellular mechanisms in a medical context. ICMM currently comprises five research programmes, three high profile Research Centers as well as a number of international research groups. The scientists at ICMM are involved in high quality research based undergraduate and graduate teaching programs at the University of Copenhagen.

Terms of employment
The average weekly working hours are 37 hours per week.

The position is a fixed-term position limited to a period of three years. The start date is March 1st, 2024 or after agreement.

Salary, pension and other conditions of employment are set in accordance with the Agreement between the Ministry of Taxation and AC (Danish Confederation of Professional Associations) or other relevant organization. Currently, the monthly salary starts at DKK 36,412 / approx. EUR 4,854 (October 2023-level). Depending on qualifications, a supplement may be negotiated. The employer will pay an additional 17.1 % to your pension fund.

Foreign and Danish applicants may be eligible for tax reductions if they hold a PhD degree and have not lived in Denmark the last 10 years.

The position is covered by the Job Structure for Academic Staff at Universities 2020.
