With the financial sector becoming ever more digital, the need for and possible design of central bank digital currency (CBDC) are increasingly being discussed. As a Research Assistant, you will assist in driving forward the analysis and further development of this pioneering form of digital central bank money. Valuable work: your role with us
- As a member of a specialised team, assist in gathering important insights for the Bundesbank and help shape the development of CBDC.
- Evaluate the latest research findings on the topic of CBDC, supporting the academic work being done in the Bundesbank’s “Analysis, Policy, Ecosystem” Division.
- Work at the intersection of academic research and national and international policy consulting and gain access to an excellent IT set-up and first-class data resources.

Unique assets: your skills and qualifications
- Accredited master’s degree or equivalent qualification in a subject relevant to the position (e.g. economics, mathematics, computing or physics)
- Experience of academic research work and involvement in academic publications
- A thorough knowledge of the technical and economic aspects of crypto-tokens and CBDC
- A thorough knowledge of the technical architectures of back-end and/or front-end systems in payments
- An agile mindset and knowledge of agile working methods
- Strong analytical and conceptual skills
- A confident demeanour, negotiation skills and powers of persuasion
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Very good communication skills in German and English
