Duration: 6 months with a possible extension up to 12 months

Tyres Europe is looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Public Affairs Intern to join its Brussels- based team. This is a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience of EU public policy in a highly dynamic environment. This internship is designed as an entry-level opportunity.

Main Responsibilities

The selected candidate will support the Association’s advocacy and will be expected to:

  • Monitor and analyse relevant EU legislative and policy developments, particularly in the areas of transport, chemicals, energy, climate, circular economy, trade and sustainability;
  • Track and summarise media coverage and political developments relevant to the industry;
  • Assist in drafting briefing notes, policy updates, speeches, and position papers;
  • Help manage and maintain mailing lists and stakeholder databases;
  • Support the organization and preparation of internal and external stakeholder meetings; and
  • Attend and report on relevant EU institutional meetings, stakeholder events, and public hearings.

Profile Requirements

  • Background in EU affairs, political science, economics, law, international relations, or a related field;
  • Demonstrated interest in EU policymaking;
  • Strong writing and research skills in English (native or near-native level). French and German language skills are an asset;
  • Good understanding of EU institutions and legislative processes; and
  • Ability to work independently, with attention to detail and a proactive attitude.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of the internship, the successful candidate will have:

  • Gained practical experience in EU public affairs and advocacy; and
  • Developed strong policy monitoring and analysis skills;
  • Improve written and oral communication abilities in a professional, multilingual environment;
  • Learn how to translate complex regulatory content into clear messages for stakeholders;
  • Acquire knowledge of the workings of a European trade association and its role in shaping EU policy;
  • Build a professional network within EU institutions, industry stakeholders, and civil society; and
  • Be well-positioned for future career opportunities in European affairs, sustainability, and advocacy, particularly in the Brussels ecosystem.
