JOB DESCRIPTION

Mission and objectives

Since 1948, protecting the rights of every child has been at the heart of UNICEF’s work in Indonesia. As a trusted partner of the government, civil society, and the private sector, UNICEF is committed to doing whatever it takes to help the children in Indonesia who are most at risk and most in need of assistance to survive, thrive, and fulfill their potential – starting from pregnancy and continuing through to adulthood. UNICEF has a strong on-the-ground presence in Indonesia, with seven regional and sub-regional offices, and the head office located in Jakarta. These offices are primarily situated in areas with the greatest disparities and service gaps. They complement our high-level policy and program advice with practical support for planning, financing, and service delivery, especially to advocate for quality, equity, and sustainability. We assist our partners in monitoring and measuring progress against child-focused Sustainable Development Goals, with an emphasis on the most vulnerable children. Our program interventions are rights-based, cross-sectoral, and respond to the specific needs of girls and boys, addressing the vulnerabilities and strengths of children in their first and second decades of life. On the ground in communities or within the corridors of ministries, UNICEF’s work in Indonesia encompasses conducting research and publishing reports that can shape policy direction, as well as advising and supporting equitable planning, financing, and delivery of essential services for Indonesia’s child population, the fourth largest in the world. UNICEF ensures that laws, policies, and services in Indonesia secure every child’s right to health, protection, and education. UNICEF’s presence in the country means we have the potential to impact more than 80 million children. We take this responsibility seriously and are committed to ensuring that children and adolescents – the building blocks of Indonesia’s future – have an equal chance in life. Finally, while we continually measure and regularly report on our programmatic progress, beyond every program activity is a child’s story. UNICEF’s success is ultimately measured by our positive impact on each child and community in which we work.

Context

In the effort to provide more career development opportunities and information to the staff members, the People & Culture team will begin to create a monthly newsletter to curate a selection of vacancies and related career opportunities, together with a monthly career development related theme and set of tips. Additionally, if needed, this may later be adapted become a key resource and avenue of support for staff who may be transitioning due to position abolition. In that scenario, the lists of vacancies may be circulated more frequently, from time-to-time, as needed. To that end, UNICEF Indonesia is seeking to collaborate with qualified Online Volunteers with skills and experience in graphic design to support us in creatively developing and designing the newsletter.

Task Description

The UNICEF Indonesia Country Office is seeking an Online Volunteer who, under the guidance of the People and Culture Manager and in close collaboration with the People & Culture team, will support us by producing a series of graphic designs for the UNICEF Indonesia Career Newsletter. Specifically, the Online Volunteer will be asked to: – Collect information on curated job vacancies and job resources. – Create draft design styles based on requirements and the target audience, and discuss them with the Supervisor. – Develop the design according to the agreed requirements. – The look and feel of the publication should be modern, edgy, and vibrant, while ensuring it remains legible and clear.
