The United Nations Regional Centre for Peace and Disarmament in Asia and the Pacific (UNRCPD) is a regional arm of the United Nations Office for Disarmament Affairs (UNODA) and assists countries in the Asia-Pacific region to achieve their peace, security, and disarmament goals, through provision of substantive support; coordination of activities at the sub-regional, regional and international levels; and information sharing on global and regional developments. Mandated by UN General Assembly resolution A/42/39D (30 November 1987) to provide, on request, support for Member State initiatives and to coordinate regional disarmament activities, UNRCPD works closely with regional and sub-regional organizations, other UN entities, and civil society. Its core focus spans capacity-building and technical assistance, dialogue fora, and outreach and advocacy. Within this mandate, UNRCPD advances inclusive, intersectional approaches to disarmament in support of the UN Secretary-General’s Disarmament Agenda, Our Common Agenda, the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, and UNODA’s Youth4Disarmament Initiative, aligning efforts with UNGA resolutions 74/64 and 76/45 and the Youth, Peace and Security (YPS) agenda to promote meaningful youth engagement across non-proliferation and arms control.

Duties and Responsibilities
With the supervision of the Associate Programme Management, the Disarmament Programmes Coordinator will perform the following tasks: A. Youth Programme Coordination (50%)
Qualifications/special skills
Advanced university degree (Master’s) in political or social sciences, international development, peace and conflict studies, or a related field. At least two years of relevant work experience in youth engagement, programme coordination, and/ or disarmament/non-proliferation/arms control. Proven experience in virtual event coordination and stakeholder liaison. Strong writing/editing for briefs and reports; familiarity with digital outreach and contact-list management. Ability to work inclusively with youth constituencies and diverse partners across cultures. Familiarity with Asia and the Pacific region is preferred.
Languages
Complete fluency in English, oral and in writing is required. Knowledge of another UN language is an advantage.
