Introduction :

UNDP Regional Bureau for Latin America and the Caribbean (RBLAC) is looking for a qualified “Food and Agricultural Commodity Systems, FACS, Programme Management Consultant” to support the implementation of the Green Commodities Programme – Phase II”.

Title/Consultancy:            “FACS Programme Management Consultant”.

Country:                           Home-based.

Duration of Assignment:  12 months.
Estimated Start Date:      February 2024.

Description of the Assignment:

UNDP´s Vision for FACS 2030 is, through partnerships, to transform food and agricultural commodity systems into resilient; equitable; healthy, inclusive; environmentally, socially, and economically sustainable systems. Working on FACS will contribute to not only recovery from the COVID-19 crisis, by creating sustainable and resilient livelihoods for many along the FAC supply chains, but also to preventing further zoonoses from emerging in the future, and address the current global crises (climate change, biodiversity loss, pollution, energy crisis, increasing cost of living).

This will require a change in the current paradigm of agricultural production focussing on maximizing productivity to a new paradigm based on diversified and resilient agroecological systems which work simultaneously on achieving economic, environmental, social, and health outcomes, with smallholders as a key part of the solution in their role as the engine of economic development.

A UNDP FACS team and practice have been established within the Nature Hub of UNDP to support the implementation of the UNDP FACS strategy. Its global objectives, targets and delivery strategies are based on inclusive and sustainable growth and development – combining governments and markets in agriculture through public-private partnerships and democratic dialogue processes.

Under the supervision of the FACS Programme Analyst, the FACS Programme Management Consultant will work closely with the Programme Management Team.  The selected FACS Programme Management Consultant is expected to produce key deliverables for the following project initiatives:

Support delivery of FOLUR problem-solving workshops.

Sustainable Agriculture and Food Systems Programme:
Support the setting-up of a project coordination tool (based on the FACS CoP platform) that allows for information and knowledge sharing, country docking and capacity development.
Coordinate and organize country calls with interested countries with relevant team members.

Coordinate and organize calls with the UNDP country offices in the selected/interested countries participating in the country level mapping.
Assist in finding and collecting project documents and other relevant documents from the UNDP country offices, and support collation of comments and edits on country reports.
Assist in preparation of slide decks for country and regional meetings.

UN Food Systems Task Force:
Provide logistical support and note taking.
Manage the related group in the FACS Community of Practice’s digital space and support participants.

Manage and monitor the internal initiatives and project dashboard and liaise or follow-up with initiative leads.
