The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) has initiated a project Safe Digital Environment Project (SDEP) to address issues with regards to irresponsible digital engagement including hate full content, misinformation, and disinformation. The SDEP aims to achieve this by engaging key government bodies and educational institutions, improving civil society’s work on fact-checking, and building capacity with a focus on government officials and youth. The initiative seeks to foster responsible digital media interaction. The project’s aim is to create a resilient and responsible digital environment, emphasizing critical thinking and ethical engagement.

In continuation of the efforts, UNDP intends to hire services of a Influencer Engagement Firm to select influencers, manage content development, and content dissemination by influencers for the Safe Digital Environment Project on various social media platforms to enhance the understanding of the public on responsible digital discourse and avoiding disinformation, as well as to sensitize audiences on the importance of verifying content on social media instead of becoming echo chambers of disinformation.
