JOB DESCRIPTION

Mission and objectives

The Regional Bureau for Arab States (RBAS) based in New York serves as the headquarters for UNDP regional programmes and country offices in 17 Arab countries, with the 18th located in the occupied Palestinian territory. The Bureau is headed by Abdallah EL Dardary, UNDP Assistant Administrator and Director of the UNDP Regional Bureau for Arab States.

Context

This assignment is part of an initiative led by the Youth Team at the UNDP Regional Bureau for Arab States to support youth entrepreneurship in crisis-affected contexts. The team has developed a Toolkit on Entrepreneurship in Crisis Contexts, which has been translated into Arabic and French. We are now seeking 4 Online Volunteers to review and refine these translations to ensure they are accurate, and culturally appropriate. Volunteers will contribute to a meaningful product aimed at empowering young people across the Arab region to engage in innovative and sustainable entrepreneurship, especially in fragile or crisis-affected settings.

Task Description

We are seeking 4 Online Volunteers to support us in reviewing the translation of a toolkit on entrepreneurship in crisis contexts, from English to Arabic and English to French. To this end, the Online Volunteers will be asked to: – Review and refine the translation of the document (estimated length to be confirmed; the document will be divided into two parts, with two volunteers assigned per module). – Ensure the translation is accurate, concise, and aligned with our communications guidelines. – Tailor the language and tone to suit the target audience, ensuring clarity and accessibility. The selected Online Volunteers will be provided with: – The already translated version of the toolkit ( Arabic and French), – Background on the target audience, – Any other relevant instructions or support. This is a great opportunity to contribute to a regional initiative supporting entrepreneurship in fragile contexts, and to collaborate with the Youth Team at UNDP’s Regional Bureau for Arab States. Volunteers will gain insight into how this toolkit contributes to empowering young entrepreneurs in crisis-affected settings across the Arab region.
