The outcomes of the services will be to strengthen the UNEP FI implementation support for the industry frameworks, helping the banking and insurance industries to integrate sustainability into products and services and implement the Principles for Responsible Banking. The services will also help promote sustainability into all aspects of the financial sector’s products and services 1) Supporting key partners towards the implementation of PRB Academy in India; 2) Stakeholder Engagement and Outreach to engage members on the PRB in India

Duties and Responsibilities
The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is the leading global environmental authority that sets the global environmental agenda, promotes the coherent implementation of the environmental dimension of sustainable development within the United Nations system and serves as an authoritative advocate for the global environment. The overall objective of the UNEP’s Economy Division is to encourage decision makers in government, local authorities and industry to develop and adopt policies, strategies and practices and technologies that promote sustainable patterns of consumption and production, make efficient use of natural resources, ensure safe management of chemicals and contribute to making trade and environment policies mutually supportive. It promotes the development, use and transfer of policies, technologies, economic instruments, managerial practices and other tools that assist in environmentally sound decision making and the building of corresponding activities. The United Nations Environment Programme Finance Initiative (UNEP FI) is the strategic partnership between the United Nations and over 400 banks, insurers and investors. For over 28 years UNEP FI has been shaping and driving the international sustainable finance agenda, setting global standards and growing a global network of leading financial institutions. Through its work-streams and regional activities, peer learning, methodology development, training and research, UNEP FI carries out its mission to help the financial industry align with and contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals and with that take on the crucial role it must play in achieving a sustainable future. The PRB Academy has been developed by the United Nations Environment Programme Finance Initiative (UNEP FI) in partnership with Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) and the Chartered Banker Institute. UNEP FI requires PRB Academy India consultant to support the Regional Coordinator for the in-person implementation of Principles for Responsible Banking Academy in In India, and to engage with the banking industry in India to support on outreach and stakeholder engagement. The consultant will support the Regional Coordinator of the implementation of the in-person Principles for Responsible Banking Academy, which is designed to support implementation of the Principles for Responsible Banking. The consultant will work on the delivery of the PRB Academy in person implementation in India, and support the outreach and stakeholder engagement in the PRB Academy Implementing countries. The consultant will work on support with UNEP FI’s Secretariat to achieve UNEP FI’s mission to accelerate the development of financial institutions that integrate sustainability and contribute to the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Objectives and outputs expectations: • PRB Academy Implementation in India • Engagement and Outreach of Financial Institutions in India on PRB Specific tasks and responsibilities PRB Academy Implementation: • Coordinate relationships with partners involved in PRB Academy implementation in India. • Support engagement with local implementation partners for in-person PRB Academy. • Support the Regional Coordinator in implementing and delivering the in-person PRB Academy in India. • Review and support in the localization of content for the PRB Academy implementation. • Coordinate end-to-end delivery of PRB Academy implementation in India, including stakeholder coordination. • Identify, promote and facilitate the joining of Indian banks and banks from other regions to the PRB Academy online course Engagement and Outreach in India: • Manage outreach and relationships with key finance sector stakeholders. • Undertake outreach to engage financial institutions in India on the Principles for Responsible Banking, Principles for Sustainable Insurance, NZBA. • Identify and engage pipeline of potential members. • Mapping of key sustainable finance stakeholders such as the Reserve Bank of India, Indian Banking Association and strengthen engagement with them • Highlighting connections between voluntary and mandatory frameworks as relevant for India Others – Provide support for the online Regional Capacity Building Programme done for UNEP FI members – Coordinate with UNEP India and provide updates in alignment with UNEP FI’s scope of work – Overall ad-hoc admin support for the Principles for Responsible Banking Academy project: internal and external project tasks and milestones delivery – Liaising with UNEP FI internal teams – Other as needed
Qualifications/special skills
Academic background – Degree or professional qualification in sustainability or environment, finance, banking, economics, education, professional training and development, communications, international studies, project management, business administration or related fields. Experience – At least 5 years’ experience within national, international organisations, NGO’s or private sector. Experience working with banks and /or financial institutions in India is required. Experience working in global contexts or with international organizations is an advantage. The candidate should have successfully coordinated complex and, ideally, multi-stakeholder-based projects.
Languages
Languages – English is the working language of UNEP FI. Knowledge of other United Nations languages is an asset.
