Duties and Responsibilities
United Nations Environment Programme – Finance Initiative (UNEP FI) is a partnership between United Nations Environment and the global financial sector created in the wake of the 1992 Earth Summit with a mission to promote sustainable finance. More than 450 financial institutions, including banks, insurers, and investors, work with UN Environment to understand today’s environmental, social and governance challenges, why they matter to finance, and how to actively participate in addressing them. UNEP FI’s work also includes a strong focus on policy – by promoting country-level dialogues between finance practitioners, supervisors, regulators and policy-makers, and, at the international level, by promoting financial sector involvement in processes such as the global climate negotiations. Responsibilities The Intern will be supporting the Human Resources team within the UNEP FI Secretariat: • The Intern primarily supporting and assisting the Administrative Team in HR-related matters, including promoting best practice, creative implementation, and assisting on better information exchange through the Online ‘Administrative Hub’ on all HR issues linked to consultants, interns, Individual Contractors and staff. This involves the design and maintenance of all aspects of communication with the boarder team through the Admin Hub Web Platform, “Welcome Packages” and regular communications briefs. • The intern could work on video editing, creating graphics, and Powerpoint presentations. • The intern could provide graphic design assistance. The final result of the intern’s work will be the successful high-quality design and layout of digital and print content. Daily responsibilities may vary depending on the individual’s background as well as the internship period. Duties may include, but are not limited to: • Assist with the editing and design of Human Resources content, including web, digital and other targeted communications • Assist with the graphic design of webinars, trainings for HR and Travel Issues • Assist with the rollout of new tools and development of best practice guidelines Competencies; Communication: Speaks and writes clearly and effectively. Establishes and maintains productive partnerships with clients by gaining their trust and respect. Identifies clients’ needs and matches them to appropriate solutions. Monitors ongoing developments inside and outside the clients’ environment to keep informed and anticipate problems. Keeps clients informed of progress or setbacks in projects. Meets timeline for delivery of products or services to client.
Qualifications/special skills
Applicants must at the time of application meet one of the following requirements: a. Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); b. Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum Bachelor’s level or equivalent); c. Have graduated with a university degree and, if selected, must commence the internship within a one-year period of graduation. Final year undergraduate or master’s degree student in graphic arts, design, IT or a related field, or equivalent professional experience. Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience. However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required. Applicants must be a student in the final year of the first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), Master’s or Ph.D. Programme or equivalent, or have completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s or PH.D. Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this internship, fluency in oral and written English is required. Knowledge of another UN Language is desirable.
