The NTEU Queensland Division is seeking to employ a Union Organiser to be located at Central Queensland University. The Branch Office is located at the Rockhampton Campus, though the position involves regular travel to all CQU campuses. This is a part-time position at four days per week (0.8) and is offered on an ongoing basis. The Branch will consider applications from people interested in working three days per week.
The NTEU is a federally registered union with coverage of academic general and TAFE staff at CQUniversity. The Queensland Division covers all workers in all Queensland universities and associated student organisations, research institutes and companies.
DUTIES INCLUDE:
General administration support for the Branch and its Committees, Branch organising, recruitment and campaign activities, maintenance and servicing of Branch delegates’ and other activists’ networks, promoting the professional interests of and communication with members, and providing them with training, advice and assistance.
ESSENTIAL SELECTION CRITERIA:
Relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent; experience in the trade union movement and a commitment to union principles; advocacy, organising, campaigning skills; ability to set priorities when faced with competing demands; and word processing and database management skills.
DESIRABLE SELECTION CRITERIA:
Knowledge of the higher education industry; electronic communication skills; and experience in layout and production of print media.
SALARY:
Salary range is as per NTEU National Staff Agreement Level 4 ($65,576 – $73,370 pro rata) or Level 5 ($74,666 – $80,727 pro rata) plus 17% superannuation.
