Duties and Responsibilities

The United Nations Office at Nairobi (UNON) is the UN headquarters in Africa and the respective office of the Secretary-General. UNON supports program implementation of the UN Environment Programme (UNEP) and the UN Human Settlements Program UNHABITAT) globally, as well as other UN offices in Kenya, by providing administrative, conference and information services (www.unon.org). This post is in the office of United Nations Office at Nairobi, Central Support Services (CSS), Commercial Operations Unit (COU), UN Events & Wellness Centre Under the supervision of the Unit Chief. The Events Centre features a unique character and is designed to host a wide range of events for various UN entities and the diplomatic community, with meetings and events spaces located at the upper floor level popular for business seminars and conferences, retreats, team building activities and receptions, and a large covered outdoor space, suitable for large functions such as sit-down dinners, receptions, performances, exhibits, meetings, and conferences. The Wellness Centre is independent from the Events Centre, and as self-sustaining business operation, fully funded and accessible to personnel and some members of the diplomatic community that have paid up for membership, providing a diverse range of facilities located at the lower floor level comprising a gym, outdoor fitness space, swimming pool, tennis, and multi-purpose courts. The incumbent will provide specialized support services to help ensure the smooth functioning of the UN Wellness Centre. The UN Wellness Centre is seeking for instructors to provide professional Zumba / Aqua Zumba, Salsa, Rhumba, Yoga, Spin, Tae-Kwando, Pilates, Aerobics, Cross-fit, Acapu Ela, Barre, Aqua Aerobics, Tai Chi fitness classes and program design to United Nations Recreation Centre members and guests. The incumbent works towards creating excellence in the fitness center reporting directly to UNWC Manager. Responsibilities will include;

• Assist in developing outreach initiatives, marketing materials, schedules, and Wellness content that engage and inspire clients.
• The instructors will be teaching special classes like Zumba / Aqua Zumba, Salsa, Rhumba, Yoga, Spin, Taekwondo, Pilates, Aerobics, Cross-fit, Acapella, Barre, Aqua Aerobics.
• The instructor works towards creating excellence in the Fitness Centre reporting directly to UNRC Manager.
• Responsible for preparing exercise classes and ensuring the studio/Aerobics room, are clean, getting it ready suitable for client use.
• Promoting fitness classes to both members and non-members for purposes of increasing or sustaining membership.
• Have a client database or profile in his record for purposes of reference.
• Advice clients on health and fitness related matters.
• Perform other related duties as required.

Qualifications/special skills

High School Certificate is required. Certificate in Zumba / Aqua Zumba, Salsa, Rhumba, Yoga, Spin, Taekwondo, Pilates, Aerobics, Cross-fit, Acapella, Barre, Aqua Aerobics is required. A minimum of 1 year experience from a reputable organization/setting is required in teaching Zumba / Aqua Zumba, Salsa, Rhumba, Yoga, Taekwondo, Pilates, Aerobics, Cross-fit, Acapella, Barre, Aqua Aerobics and any other. Qualifications and knowledge of fitness and products and equipment is required.

Languages

Fluency in oral and written English is required.
