Organization Mission

The United Nations Volunteers (UNV) programme, headquartered in Bonn Germany, contributes to peace and development through volunteerism worldwide. UNV work with partners to integrate qualified, highly motivated and well supported UN Volunteers into development programming and promote the value and global recognition of volunteerism. UNV is administered by the United Nations Development Programme (https://www.undp.org/).

The UNV Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific in Bangkok, one of six Regional Offices in different locations around the world, forges opportunities for the mobilization of UN Volunteers in support of the UN system’s activities on peace and development, as well as to support volunteerism as a form of civic engagement through increased capabilities and regional partnerships with UN and non-UN entities.

At the country level, UNV Field Units interact with UN entities to integrate volunteerism into their development agenda and for deployment of National UN Volunteers.

Context

UNV India is seeking Online Volunteers to support the development of its quarterly newsletter showcasing the contributions, achievements, and impact of UN Volunteers and UNV-supported initiatives across India. The Online Volunteer will assist in curating, writing, and designing engaging newsletter content by working closely with UNV colleagues to collect stories, updates, photographs, and other relevant materials. Guidance and feedback will be provided throughout the assignment to ensure the quality and consistency of the final publication.

Key Responsibilities

The Online Volunteer will be asked to:

– Curate, write, and edit engaging content for the quarterly newsletter by gathering stories, updates, achievements, and other relevant information from UN Volunteers.
– Design and format the quarterly newsletter using appropriate design tools, ensuring alignment with UNV branding and communication guidelines.
– Coordinate with UNV colleagues to collect content, photographs, and other supporting materials.
– Revise the newsletter based on feedback received by UNV colleagues to ensure quality, accuracy, and consistency

The Online Volunteer is expected to produce:

-One professionally designed quarterly newsletter.

All intellectual property and materials developed through this assignment will remain the property of UNV.

Required Skills and Experience

– Candidate should have excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with a strong command of the English language, including grammar, punctuation, and vocabulary.
– Strong content writing and editing skills for newsletters and other communication materials.
– Willingness to adapt both content and design to align with UNV branding and communication guidelines.
– Proficiency in designing newsletters and communication materials using Canva or similar graphic design tools,
