Job Description

AECOM’s Urbanism + Planning team is seeking visionary and dynamic urban planning leadership. The primary responsibilities are to lead and grow AECOM’s planning practice in Florida with the goal of driving land use and multi-modal planning and urban design innovation, thought leadership, and practice management. We are seeking an individual who is an industry-recognized leader, has strong client relationships, and an established industry network to help grow our Urbanism + Planning practice in Florida with opportunities to collaborate across the east coast and even globally. The ideal candidate understands and has a proven track record in driving business fundamentals that include business development, client management, financial oversight, quality control, project delivery, and has the ability to convey innovative planning design thinking and solutions. In collaboration with the Buildings + Places and Urbanism + Planning team the Florida Urban Planning Lead will:

  • Develop and execute a strategic growth plan for Florida, including building a planning practice that serves Orlando and Tampa

  • Relate the AECOM and Urbanism + Planning vision to client and community needs in Florida and advocate for planning and design excellence

  • Build client relationships, pre-position for opportunities, and secure a portfolio of work that aligns with growth objectives

  • Contribute to AECOM’s “think and act globally” philosophy by creating a culture of innovation and collaboration

  • Proactively focus on team building, talent development, retention, and recruiting

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • BA/BS + 10 years of related experience leading complex urban planning projects or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education, including 2 years of leadership

Preferred Qualifications:

  • BA/BS in Urban Planning or related field

  • Master’s degree in Urban Planning or Urban Design

  • AICP certification or other relevant credentialing

  • Deep knowledge of the marketplace and industry trends in Florida with national and global reach

  • Experience practicing land use planning and urban design in Florida and for municipal, county, or state clients

  • Experience and skill in strategic business development, client interviews and relationship building, and driving sales and revenue

  • Experiencing interfacing with project delivery teams on scope of work development, budget and schedule, and client satisfaction

  • A strong desire to train, mentor, and develop staff to grow their careers and the business

Offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The salary range for this position is: $92k – $150k
