Overview of position

Under the direct supervision of the Senior Project Assistant (ESNFI/Shelter)
the Project Assistant (Architecture-ESNFI) will
support HAP in monitoring and evaluation of shelter activities through the
tasks specified below.

Role objectives

1.Assist in the implementation of shelter
and settlements projects, following-up and verifying compliance with cluster
standards, best practices, and gender sensitive approaches.

2.Monitor site plans and sites under
development to verify if basic technical criteria of land availability/ property,
accessibility, safety, security, absorption capacity and acceptable
humanitarian standards are taken into consideration. Bring issues and short
falls to the attention of the supervisor.

3.Contribute to sketch design; provide
documentation (AutoCAD), presentation (3D rendering)/ graphic communication and
monitoring implementation.

4.Facilitate the integration and inclusion of protection issues,
such as prevention of GBV and the specific needs of women, men, girls, boys,
and people with disabilities in site plans and designs.

5.Conduct assessments, surveys, and technical
investigations to inform the design process and ensure the inclusion of
beneficiary perspectives.

6.Collaborate with the engineering team to support
the effective coordination and integration of architectural designs within the
overall project framework.

7.Contribute to the projects reporting,
including the preparation of reports, progress update, and documentation of
lesson learned.

8.Actively participate in the organization
of all phases of the shelter activities including but not limited to, beneficiary
selection, field assistant, project implementation and evaluation.

9.Assist to identify shelter needs of the
IDPs, returnees and host’ families in communities through needs assessment
using standard tools and methodology used by program.

10.Perform such other duties as may be
assigned.

Further information

Education

University degree (BSc. or higher) in Architecture Engineering from a recognized institution with two years of relevant professional experience.

or

High School Diploma / Certificate in above fields with four years of relevant experience.

Experience

1.Work experience in construction particularly in community-based projects in challenging environments preferably with UN, International NGOs, and National NGOs.

2.Ability to use Ms Office, and Auto CAD.

3.Having experience in organizing and monitoring construction site activities, preferably engaged with shelter activities.

4.Knowledge of shelter guidelines, standards, and indicators.

5.Experience in working with IDPs and returnees.

6.Knowledge of cash-based interventions and market-based programs.

7.Ability to conduct estimation, develop bill of quantities, and perform market survey.

8.Ability to prepare status reports as required by management.

9.Knowledge of geographical information system (GIS) is an advantage.

10.Demonstrated understanding of different data collection methodologies.

11.Ability to work effectively and harmoniously in a team and in the inter-agency context with colleagues from varied cultures and professional backgrounds.

12.Demonstrated gender awareness and gender sensitivity.
