Overview of position |
Implementation of WASH programme at scale (assessment, design, monitoring and handover, operationalization) including but not limited to Solar Powered Water Supply Piped Network and Chlorination Facility in Tapa Fiqirabad village of Surobi district. In addition, the facilitator will extend its support to other rural and urban water supply, sanitation, hygiene promotion, WASH in Institutions and WASH in Emergency projects: Forty years of war, recurrent natural disasters, chronic poverty, The recent political developments have also pushed Afghanistan into Millions of people lack access to safe drinking water, sanitation, Poor access to basic WASH services adversely impacts the survival, There are signs that existing WASH systems could collapse quickly |
Role objectives |
Specific Tasks/Activities 1.Organize on the site training for CDCs, WMCs, assigned mechanics and contractors to ensure the high-standard construction of the Sarubi and other water supply project is done which is also aimed at establishing and training the O&M committee and WMC with a particular importance on promoting female participation, proper running the water network and to ensure the efficient management and operation of the Sarubi water treatment project. 2.Support the Water management committee and CDC members in proper operationalizing of Surobi water treatment plant and Solar powered water supply project. 3.Organize water safety planning workshops and hygiene promotion sessions for the beneficiaries. 4.Support WASH Knowledge Management through documentation and sharing WASH best practices with UNICEF WASH team. 5.Survey (technical and economic), design, implement and monitor WASH projects in rural and pre-urban communities, schools, and healthcare facilities and support for water quality testing. 6.Use AutoCAD, Water CAD, Water GEMs and other design software packages for the design and drafting of WASH infrastructure including groundwater and surface water pumping systems. 7.Visit the selected urban, peri-urban, and rural communities, schools, health facilities for quality control and technical spot checks to assure the construction and field works are in line with the design and specifications, WASH policy, and guidelines and provide technical feedback to the partners on their performance and report to UNICEF CR WASH team. 8.Oversee the payments and transactions to the implementing partner(s) to make sure the payments are done as per the actual works completed and on time. Any other duty requested by the supervisor. |
Project reporting |
1.Water Management Committee including mechanics are trained on Operation and Maintenance (O&M) and sustainability Sarubi and other water supply projects and empower potentials groups of beneficiaries to promote hygiene practise in their day to day live and support them to become agent of changes in their communities. 2.Proper mechanism for operation and maintenance of water supply project is developed and activated. 3.water safety planning workshops organized. 4.WASH related stories developed and best practices are documented and shared with UNICEF. 5.WASH need technical assessment (Surveys) and detailed feasibility studies (Social, technical, economical, and environmental) are carried out and water quality tests are conducted in identified communities, schools and health facilities and reports are prepared and submitted to UNICEF. 6. WASH interventions are designed for the identified sites and BoQs, drawings, specifications, full set of contract/tendering and other required documents are prepared and shared with UNICEF. 7.Visit project sites, conduct regular monitoring and supervisions from the project sites, quality of project works is controlled, and field visit reports are shared with partners and UNICEF CR WASH team. 8. WASH projects payment requests are processed as per agreed payment modality and schedule. |
Key competencies |
Minimum ·A bachelor’s university degree in one of the following fields is ·A minimum of 5 years of professional work experience in ·A minimum of 1-year practical experience in implementation of Fluency in English is required. |
