COOPI is looking for a Roster of Country Security Coordinators
COOPI is looking for experienced Security Coordinators who can be available on short notice for missions of varying duration in various countries. The pre-qualified candidates will be included in a permanent roster and will receive on-call assignments, after receiving training on COOPI’s safety procedures and tools. The missions will take place in the countries where the projects are being implemented and will have a variable duration ranging from 3 to 12 months.
Main responsibilities
The responsibilities will be identified and formulated for each individual mission and will be determined according to the priorities of the context. Non-exhaustively, the main responsibilities consist of:
- Developing the security management policy for the country, in collaboration with the Head of Mission
- Defining the needs, and possible recruitment and integration of the country’s security team, in collaboration with the Head of Mission
- Defining the roles and responsibilities of all mission personnel in terms of security management
- Continuous supervision, training, and coaching of the country staff involved in security management, including guards and drivers
- Developing, consolidating, and implementing operational procedures and security plans
- Monitoring the security situation in the country, promptly and effectively reporting risks to the Head of Mission and proposing mitigation measures
- Defining SOPs and related monitoring of staff movements in the country
- Monitoring and reporting on all security incidents involving COOPI personnel in the country
Requirements
Essentials
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant field or equivalent combination of experience and education
- Minimum of 3 years experience providing security support to international missions in Africa and developing countries
- Experience working and living in complex political environments or developing countries
- Ability to analyze multiple issues and develop specific recommendations
- Ability to plan, organize, coordinate and implement security operations in the field
- Flexibility and adaptability to rapidly develop relevant advice based on changing geopolitical context
- Proven ability in teaching and coaching in security domain
- Strong oral and written communication skills in English.
- Working knowledge of PC-based word processing and spreadsheet applications
- Able to work effectively in a multicultural environment
- Able to work independently and remotely
- Excellent organisational and management skills
Plus
- Fluency in French
- Previous experience with COOPI
