MaineHealth is seeking an engaging and strategic executive to serve
as its next Vice President/Chief Development Officer (CDO) to lead
and shape a newly unified philanthropy organization. Reporting
directly to Andrew Mueller, M.D., MaineHealth’s President and CEO,
the CDO will be an instrumental leader, establishing the vision for
a system-wide fundraising organization and continuing to elevate
relationships with donors and strategic partners within
MaineHealth’s internal and external networks.

MaineHealth (MH) is a not-for-profit health system dedicated to
improving the health of patients and communities by providing
high-quality affordable care, educating tomorrow’s caregivers, and
researching better ways to provide care. As the largest healthcare
organization in the state, MH is an 11-hospital system with 22,000
care team members and over 1,600 providers in the medical group.
The system spans a broad geographic footprint from North Conway,
New Hampshire to the central Maine coast. The health system is
anchored by its flagship 700-bed hospital Maine Medical Center
(MMC), a medical school affiliate of Tufts University Medical
School. MMC is home to nationally recognized residency and
fellowship programs and is committed to providing academic and
clinical training to future generations of providers.

The CDO will establish the vision, strategy, and organizational
structure necessary to capitalize on the new system-wide
philanthropy structure while continuing to advance the strong donor
base, reputation, and stewardship at MaineHealth. This visionary
executive will drive revenue growth and mission impact through
annual giving, major gifts, planned giving, corporate development,
and development of new and emerging fundraising markets. The CDO
will collaborate closely with colleagues on the MaineHealth
leadership team and the Board to set organizational fundraising
priorities. Additionally, the CDO will be responsible for managing
a total team of over 50 individuals actively engaging with the
community and MaineHealth stakeholders to strengthen relationships
with regional hospitals, thereby increasing awareness and
visibility of MaineHealth throughout Maine and beyond. This
position calls for an experienced, confident visionary, who thrives
in a complex matrix and collaborative environment; has a track
record of success in leading a team in authentic major gift
relationship building, preferably in healthcare; understands and
embraces sustainable fundraising and executing comprehensive
campaigns; has deep experience in understanding, building, and
partnering with donors including securing transformational gifts;
and has a passion for excellence in healthcare and the overall
health and wellness of people in the local communities they serve.
