About the opportunity
Reporting to the Vice-Chancellor and President (‘VC’) and serving an integral member of the Senior Executive team—the new Vice President (Strategy) (‘VP’) will assume responsibility for embedding the University’s strategic framework, including providing analysis, insight and high-level advice to the Senate, VC and Executive on key strategic issues and opportunities. The role leads the setting, monitoring and review process for the University’s strategic direction and integrated planning process, ensuring alignment across all portfolios.
The VP leads a team of 150+ full-time-equivalent employees across five divisions: Office of the Vice President, Advanced Analytics, Planning and Enterprise Data, Central Project Management Office, Strategic Planning Office, and Strategic Venture Office.
About you
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience as a strategy & transformation leader across enterprise-level strategy development, strategic planning, strategic ventures, large-scale project management and analytical decision-making. The experience they would bring may include leading a similar function at another leading university or come from an adjacent complex services sector, such as government or health. Alternatively, the new VP may come from a senior role within the education (or similar) practice of a well-regarded consulting firm. Other relevant combinations of experience are also welcomed. The hired candidate will have strong academic qualifications, and higher degrees will be well-regarded.
Term and remuneration
The successful candidate will be offered a competitive remuneration package commensurate with the responsibilities of the position and the candidate’s relevant experience and qualifications. The position will be offered on a full-time, fixed term contract for five years.
