Videographer/Filmmaker for Three Short Films Production on SRHR

Background:

Emma organization is a feminist organization that provides rehabilitation, development assistance, and program services to vulnerable communities in Kurdistan.

In 2024, for the purpose of expanding outreach and increasing efforts of advocacy and awareness raising related to young people’s RHR Emma is planning to produce three awareness short films.

The chosen topics could potentially focus on below reproductive health and rights topics:

• Violence against adolescent and pregnancy in early age (especially in the context of early/forced marriage),
• Improved maternal, antenatal and postpartum care,
• Improving care for mothers and infants during childbirth,
• Education on Contraception,
• Further focus on family planning uptake and barriers, and improving care for mothers and children during childbirth.
• Quality of care, contraception, and young people’s sexual and reproductive health.
• Reproductive health and rights services, and disrespect or abuse in childbirth. This also includes improving Obstetric Care, covering multiple topics, including misconduct during child birth.

Therefore, Emma intends to hire a qualified Videographer/Filmmaker to produce and film three videos/short films to be published on Emma’s social media.

 

Requirements: 

 

• The video should be an experienced and creative videographer and/or filmmaker who can deliver and edit high-quality audiovisual materials. The videographer/Filmmaker should deliver the following:
  • Video/Short Film Script: The videographer/Filmmaker should submit three detailed scripts of the videos. Short films will be shared.
  • Video/short Film: All videos should be delivered in high quality in terms of resolution, exposure, framing, focus, stabilization, etc.

Audio: All audio should be delivered in high quality in terms of sound, and mic placement, and be synced to video. 

• The videographer/Filmmaker should prepare for a monthly planning call/meeting with the team.
• The videographer/Filmmaker will supply a first draft of the deliverables and include rounds of feedback before delivering a final version.

 

Deliverables 

1. Three 5-8 minutes (edited) Videos/Short Films
   1. The videographer/Filmmaker will provide 2 versions:
      1. A version with Kurdish audio and English subtitles
      2. Another version with no subtitles and no branding
   2. The videographer/Filmmaker will supply a first draft of the deliverables and include rounds of feedback before delivering a final version.

 

2. All raw materials (photo, audio, and video)

 

Timeline :

• 25-30 April: Recruitment/Contract
• May-June: Filming 15 days
• 1-10 June -Montage Process
• 10–25June-Editing and Reviewing
• 25 June: The first and final draft delivered.

 

Logistics:

• Recording of the short film to be preferably in Erbil or the surrounding area
• The videographer/Filmmaker /videographer/Filmmaker team will be responsible for their own transportation and other costs related to filming per their financial offer.

 

Supervision:

The work of the videographer/filmmaker will be supervised closely by the project manager for technical support on the chosen topics.  Several rounds of consultation and feedback will take place in all stages of the production, including the script preparation. 

• Fluency in Kurdish and Arabic;
• Minimum 2 years of experience working in the field of production and filmmaking.
• Experience in communicating and working with a wide range of people including people of culturally diverse backgrounds.

Interested individuals or advertising/production companies with relevant experience and skills based on the ToR can submit their Expression of Interest (EOI), including the following:

1. Cover letter of no more than 1 page introducing the consultant/company and intention to deliver the assignment. The cover letter should also indicate the consultants’ availability for the proposed period.
2. The technical proposal should provide details on the proposed methodology responding to the ToR and the deliverables; capacity in line with the competencies required for the assignment, including references to experience with similar assignments and providing relevant work samples; CVs of the consulting team directly involved in the assignment, including their specific roles. A technical proposal should not be longer than 5 pages, excluding annexes, and should include examples/samples of previous similar work.
3. Detailed work plan.
4. The financial proposal includes a one-page budget of the offer, covering all major anticipated costs. An accompanying work plan must be submitted too.
