Main purpose of job:
Drive High Commission’s car.
Roles and responsibilities / what will the jobholder be expected to achieve?:
a) All armoured driving duties.
b) Routine checks of vehicle in accordance with current policy and procedures
c) Maintaining accurate vehicle logs and journey records
d) Keeping the vehicle clean and serviceable
e) Reporting any defects
f) Maintain the passengers’ safety by providing safety briefs and ensuring use of seat belts.
g) Maintaining the integrity and security of vehicles in your care.
h) Ad-hoc duties as assigned by your Line Manager or Head of VMU.
What we want from you:
To remain courteous to passengers.
Follow all rules of the road (unless reacting to an emergency) including:
a. Maintaining sufficient manoeuvring space between you and the vehicle in front.
b. Utilise all armoured vehicle driver training techniques
c. Observe national speed limits.
d. Maintain lane discipline – stay within road markings
e. To ensure vehicle is kept in a road worthy condition, including refuelling, lubricants checks, washer fluid checks, tyre checks, passenger compartment equipment serviceability checks (e.g. seat-belts, radio).
f. Complete all associated logs, documents and reports in an accurate and timely manner.
g. Report any defect immediately to the Transport Manager.
h. Escort the vehicle at the dealer as necessary during servicing / repair.
i. Wear the officially provided uniform.
Working patterns:
If the job is suitable for flexible working patterns, please provide details:
Flexibility to work long hours and on weekends /holidays if required.
1. Formal qualification is not a requirement, however, good English speaking and understanding skill is expected.
2. To be formally qualified to drive, and in possession of a vailed Indian commercial driving licence for the vehicles they will be required to operate
3. To have at least 2 years’ experience of Armoured car driving, including driving a wide range of cars.
Language requirements:
Language: English and Hindi
Level of language required: Good spoken English and should be able to understand English.
Written – Basic
Any working experience in multinational / multi-cultural companies, diplomatic missions.

For British High Commission candidates, the Country Based Staff BHC Terms & Conditions will apply.
For other than BHC Candidates, salary will be all-inclusive of INR 27,793 per month together with a 12% Provident Fund and 6% Superannuation Fund.
Additionally, the BHC offers a great benefits package that includes annual domiciliary medical cover, plus a Group Hospitalisation Scheme with INR 500,000 floater cover for your immediate family.
No relocation or any other related costs or assistance will be provided.
Please note – BHC does not deduct tax at source and employees are required to ensure that any requirements of local income-tax law are complied with in full. Employees who are not liable to pay local income tax on their Mission salary, eg. some non-local national staff and some spouses or partners of UK diplomatic staff, will have their salaries abated by an equivalent amount.

Employees who are not liable to pay local income tax on their Mission salary may have their salaries reduced by the equivalent local income tax amount.
Please note – Provident Fund Transfer in and out from EPFO is not possible as BHC PF is managed by a private PF trust governed by Indian Income Tax Act, 1961. The staff still has the option to transfer out and in from a privately held PF trust which are not governed by EPFO.
