Main purpose of job:
This is an exciting global role, working at the cutting edge of trade promotion, global communications and digital diplomacy. This job is centred around the creative process and branding requirements for the GREAT Britain & Northern Ireland Campaign, by supporting Posts with the creative delivery of their campaigns.
The GREAT Britain & Northern Ireland Campaign is the UK’s international communications programme. It enhances the UK’s global reputation and drives economic growth by encouraging international audiences to visit, study, trade, invest, live and work in the UK. GREAT is one of the world’s most impactful nation branding and marketing initiatives, providing the UK government’s international network with a high-quality, consistent brand used by 26 government departments and arms-length bodies. It successfully promotes the UK’s strengths in 164 countries, delivering £7 billion worth of returns to the UK economy since launch.
This role provides an opportunity to be part of an exciting, international and diverse team. Working with teams across the world and with the GREAT Brand Head Office in London. The job will involve creating print to digital campaign elements, repurposing assets, sourcing suitable artwork and assets for campaign delivery. Over time, this role will become the brand champion overseas, supporting our missions with delivering GREAT branded communications campaigns and events.
This role is based at the British Embassy Bangkok, which is large diplomatic mission of around 140 staff delivering a dynamic and rapidly expanding programme of activity in support of the UK’s objectives including prosperity, trade, security, open societies, consular services and law enforcement. Roles and responsibilities / what will the jobholder be expected to achieve:
- Creative expertise, design skills and brand management (30%): You will work in conjunction with the GREAT Brand Team in the Cabinet Office London on brand leadership and guardianship. Joining weekly meetings with the Brand Team in London. You will develop campaign/event assets that deliver maximum impact for the brand, as well as working in partnership with the Department for Business & Trade’s (DBT)Global Design Network. You will proactively look for creative and innovative opportunities for the brand. Looking and sharing global trends in creative delivery.
- Solution finding and asset sourcing (30%): You will support with sourcing the right brand assets from the GREAT Brand Library and ensuring they are used in line with the brand guidelines. Working with Posts and with GREAT HQ. You will develop GREAT branded design solutions that support the delivery of communications and marketing strategies across GREAT led Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office activities.
- Collaboration and Relationship Management (30%): You will collaborate and support the High Commissions, Consulates and Embassies across the international network with GREAT brand queries on design and brand usage. Upskilling teams as and when required. You will collaborate with the GREAT Regional Team on priorities and locally run GREAT campaigns, joining weekly regional GREAT meetings.
- Communications (10%): You will be a strong communicator, able to work independently, but open to asking questions if you aren’t sure on any aspects of your work. You will share regular updates, have regular check-ins with your LM and the Senior GREAT Designer in HQ. You will work with your LM & the Senior GREAT Designer in HQ to shape this new role, so that the team can deliver in the most efficient way possible.

Working patterns:
This is a full time role – 36 hours/week, Monday to Friday (10am-6pm)
We are currently operating a hybrid working pattern with at least 60% of the time being spent in the office.
The Embassy has a smarter working policy and is committed to offering flexible working patterns balanced with the operational requirements of the role. In crisis/emergency situations you may need to work as required to support the Embassy response, sometimes on a shift pattern, which may result in unsociable hours and/or weekend working.

This role is a fixed term contract of 12 months with possibility of renewal. Applicants are required to submit a portfolio of their best 3 design projects with short descriptions for assessment. Work samples, behaviours, strengths and experience will be assessed during the interview. In addition to the interview the candidate will need to complete a task in their own time, which will be taken into account for the assessment. The task will be: We will provide brand guidelines and a brief to create a GREAT asset. The candidate will have 1 week to complete this task. |
