Main purpose of job:
The British Embassy Bangkok is a large diplomatic mission of around 150 staff delivering a dynamic and rapidly expanding programme of activity in support of the UK’s objectives including on economic and sustainable development, trade, security, open societies, consular services and law enforcement.
In 2024, the UK and Thailand signed a strategic partnership which strengthens cooperation in a range of areas including economic, trade and investment, political, security and defence, climate, energy and sustainable development, science and technology, health, agriculture and people-to-people links. This is an exciting role to support the Embassy’s delivery of a key component of the UK and Thailand’s climate cooperation.
The jobholder will be part of the British Embassy’s Economic and Sustainable Development team in delivering the UK PACT Thailand Country Fund. This includes ensuring effective programme coordination, oversight, and will regularly interact with senior-level government officials across different agencies and private sector.
We are looking for a proactive team player with strong stakeholder and project management skills and a real drive to deliver.
The successful job holder will work on the UK PACT Thailand Country Fund, part of the UK PACT (Partnering for Accelerated Climate Transitions) programme, which supports Thailand’s low-carbon transition through projects in sustainable transport, green finance, and carbon markets sectors. The programme operates through grant-funded projects and expert deployments, working closely with NGOs, government agencies, and private sector stakeholders.
The jobholder will exercise discretion and initiative in managing programme processes, improving operational efficiency, and supporting strategic engagement with stakeholders. They will work closely with the UK PACT Programme Manager, delivery partners, implementing organisations, and UK government teams to ensure alignment with programme goals and compliance with financial and risk frameworks.
Roles and responsibilities / what will the jobholder be expected to achieve:
- Programme Coordination (30%): Support the UK PACT Programme Manager in overseeing the implementation of UK PACT projects, through working with the delivery partner to monitor each projects’ performance, identify risks or delay, propose improvement plan, and other to ensure quality and timely delivery. Represent the programme in internal and external coordination and ensure alignment with the programme objectives and UK visibility, and coherence with other UK programmes.
- Stakeholder Engagement and Communication (20%): Maintain strong working relationships and facilitate effective collaboration with key government counterparts, delivery partner, project implementing partners, NGOs/CSOs, and UK government agencies Represent the programme in internal and external coordination and ensure alignment with the programme objectives and UK visibility, and coherence with other UK programmes.. Ensure that the teams across UK PACT programme (FCDO, Delivery Partners, Implementing Partners) are coordinated, and work well together in order to facilitate the implementation of the programme. Work with the UK PACT Programme Manager and relevant stakeholders to compile and communicate results of UK PACT Thailand programme.
- Operational and Administrative (15%): Manage programme-related administrative tasks with a focus on improving programme efficiency and quality. This includes official correspondence with internal and external stakeholders, travel arrangements, event logistics and documentation that are programme or Post-related. Manage and ensure that administrative processes support timely and effective programme delivery.
- Monitoring & Reporting (15%): Support, monitor, and ensure timely and effective data collection, report writing, and programme evaluations to track impact and compliance. Monitor and evaluating ongoing financial and contractual management and monitoring and identifying risks and potential outcomes. Contribute to internal and external reporting cycles, and support learning, and knowledge-sharing across the programme with internal and external stakeholders.
- Fund Management & Compliance (10%): Work with the delivery partner and fund management system, ensuring adherence to programme policies, risk frameworks, and financial procedures. Ensure adherence to policies and financial procedures.
- Risk Management & Safeguarding (5%): Monitor and contribute to risk mapping and safeguarding, and mitigation strategies. Ensure risks are identified early and escalated appropriately.
- General Support (5%): Support preparation and coordination for ad hoc tasks that are required at the programme and Post levels, including, event organisation, high-level stakeholder visits, and cross-team collaboration within the Embassy.

The British Embassy Bangkok encourages all staff to develop their capabilities, through both formal training (courses) and informal (job-shadowing, coaching, on-the-job training etc.). The majority of our formal L&D opportunities are drawn from FCDO resources. All staff are encouraged to share their skills and experience with colleagues, through informal training (‘lunch & learn’) or coaching/mentoring. All staff are eligible for 5 L&D days a year.
Working patterns:
This is a full time role – 36 hours/week, Monday – Thursday 08:00 – 16:30, Friday 08:00 – 13:00
We are currently operating a hybrid working pattern with at least 60% of the time being spent in the office.
