The Department for Business and Trade (DBT) is responsible for promoting UK trade and investment with the rest of the world. Working within the British Embassy in Chile, as well as collaborating closely with DBT Latin America and Caribbean (LATAC) and UK colleagues, the successful applicant will drive deeper trading relations between the UK and Chile, increasing UK exports and contributing to economic growth and jobs. As Business and Trade intern, you would support the creation of a pipeline of companies to deliver against commercial opportunities in Chile and UK, including through development and maintenance of internal databases and information management/KPI processes. You will support lead generation and understanding of demands and opportunities within the Chilean market by carrying out sector research and stakeholder mapping. You would also support the promotion of the UK within the Chilean market, supporting the organisation of events, including commercial elements of high profile cross-mission events in the different priority sectors (Mining, Energy, Infrastructure, Financial Services, Life Sciences, Agritech, and Defence & Security). You will have the opportunity to participate from diverse commercial opportunities including meetings with relevant stakeholders, internationalisation and investment fairs, and internal and external events in order to develop your professional skills and experience to enhance your future career prospects. You will also collaborate closely with other Embassy colleagues to identify synergies and contribute to shared goals across the Mission. The internship will take place between April 2025 and October 2025 (depending on the starting date, for 6 months – with the possibility of extension for the same period of time under specific circumstances and requirements).
