Main purpose of job:

Working as a driver as part of the Close Protection Team to provide security that will enable freedom of movement to the principle whilst also representing the British High Commission in a professional manner whilst on duty at all times.

 Roles and responsibilities / what will the jobholder be expected to achieve?

  • Provide Close Protection Driving services to the principles in a professional manner. (80% of the time)
  • Close Protection Driving  independently and as part of the team
  • Perform duties according to the duty roster of the team
  • Carry out RECCEs of locations under minimum supervision and be prepared to back briefed line managers and team on findings
  • Maintain journey record sheet for the vehicle and as personal record.
  • Ensure the documents are maintained and submitted accurately.(Approximate 5% of time)
  • Keep vehicle neat, clean and well maintained.(Approximate 10% of time)
  • Check engine oil, Brake Oil , Fuel Level , tyre pressure , Lights , washers and wipers and ensure they are fully functional.(Approximate 5% of time)

Language requirements:

Language: English

Level of language required:  Should be able to speak, understand, read and write

Learning and development opportunities (and any specific training courses to be completed):

If not already held required to conduct Armoured Vehicle training course at post or in UK.

Working patterns:

You will be expected to work 48 gross hours per week as per the roster agreed by your LM and Head of section. Timings of the Roster can change and do not necessarily reflect the normal office timings or weekend/public holidays. As this is a shift based job therefore it also attracts a Shift Disturbance Allowance of 12.5% per month.

Essential on arrival:  

  • Education: Minimum Higher Secondary School Certificate
  • Valid HTV licence with 5 – 8 years’ experience as a HTV driver in any reputable organisation
  • Minimum 3 years’ Experience in AV driving
  • Consummate knowledge about Rawalpindi and Islamabad
  • Good knowledge about the various cities in Pakistan (Punjab, KPK, AJAK and GB)

For BHC candidates, the Country Based Staff BHC Terms & Conditions will apply. For other than BHC candidates the basic salary will be ­­PKR 84,986 per month. This salary is non-negotiable.

‘Please note that the current salaries are being dollarized and processed in USD (using a fixed corporate exchange rate from November 2022) to provide cushion against the current external market conditions. This is a temporary measure and is subject to review at regular intervals. The payroll will revert to local currency processing once the external market conditions are normalised.
