Who we are and what we do:

The British Embassy in Vilnius is part of a world-wide network, representing British political, economic and consular interests overseas and is looking for a Communications and Digital Media Manager to join its Political Team.

Main purpose of job:

This is an opportunity for a dynamic and enthusiastic communications professional to join the UK in Lithuania Team. You will support our efforts to creatively tell the story of how the UK is working with Lithuania on a wide range of issues.  

The successful candidate will work to deliver the Embassy’s social media strategy, using a wide range of communications and public diplomacy tools, as well as play an integral role as part of the wider Team.  

The job would suit those with understanding of international affairs, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills and with previous experience in social media.

The successful candidate will be responsible for capturing good quality content at events (photos, video, interviewing), collecting content on field visits to our projects, drafting communication strategies, writing press releases and social media posts for our digital channels.

The job requires a positive, self-starter attitude with initiative and drive to support colleagues reactively and by proactively engaging with teams to assist with communications, from concept to delivery.

Key tasks of the role:

  • Deliver a refreshed communications strategy linking to the FCDO strategy and Embassy objectives, planning and executing content on Twitter and Facebook, evaluating impact and suggesting improvements.
  • As part of the political section, work with colleagues across all teams in the Embassy to help translate our priorities and objectives into digital media messages to increase the local profile and impact of our work.
  • Follow central campaigns from London, adapt these for local audiences and create innovative and engaging local content to increase our reach.
  • Contribute to the wider Embassy’s public diplomacy work, campaigns and major events to promote the UK as well as working on developing the Embassy’s use of public diplomacy materials.
  • Support to the Programme Board and project activities when needed.

  • Strong IT & communication skills, excellent knowledge and experience of using social media, including Facebook and Twitter;
  • Photography/videography; social media production, graphic design skills;
  • Excellent writing skills; ability to draft engaging content for social media in Lithuanian and English;
  • Experience in developing campaign content and messaging for a variety of channels;
  • Excellent networking skills, collaborative approach to team working;
  • Attention to detail, strong organisational and time managements skills;
  • Understanding of local media, PR and communications environment;
  • Self-starter with a dynamic and positive attitude to work.

  • Understanding of international relations and an interest in the UK;
  • Experience in Social media monitoring and evaluation tools.

This is a full-time, 35 net hours per week, permanent contract, EO grade position.

The start date for the position is as soon as possible, subject to the availability of the candidate and the length of the recruitment process. 

We offer:

  • A base salary EUR 2949 (gross) and, in addition and sports allowance that is paid on top of the base salary.
  • Generous private medical insurance scheme (after successful probation period).
  • A strong focus on learning and development, including support for developing English language skills.
  • 35-hour working week with a focus on work-life balance. Please note that while we offer some homeworking, this is primarily an office-based job.
  • 22 annual leave + 14 public holidays.
