Main purpose of job:
The Corporate Services Officer (Protocol & Administration) provides essential protocol, administrative and operational support at the British High Commission Bridgetown. The role liaises closes with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, coordinate arrivals and departures of officers and their families, support official visitors, and provide flexible administrative, IT and reception cover as required. Working closely with colleagues across Corporate Services and engaging confidently with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, the role offers responsibility, variety and exposure. It is well suited to a highly organised, proactive individual who enjoys working at pace, juggling multiple priorities, and delivering a professional, customer‑focused service in a dynamic international environment.

Applicants must have the legal status to live and work in Barbados.
Employees who are not liable to pay local income tax on their Mission salary, e.g. some non-local national staff and some spouses or partners of UK diplomatic staff, will have their salaries abated by an equivalent amount.
Appointable candidates who were unsuccessful may be placed on a ‘reserve list. If during the reserve period of 12 months the same or largely similar role becomes available, that role may be offered to the second of subsequent candidate.

Working Hours
The role requires flexibility within a 38-hour work week (including breaks). This may include evening and occasional weekend duties. Time off in lieu (TOIL) will be granted for hours worked beyond 38.
