Main purpose of job:
Provide administrative and sector-focused support to the Director and Deputy Director and/or (a) Commercial Officer(s) at the Department for Business & Trade (DBT) office in Colombia, including (but not limited to) business development, research and analysis of data within a designated sector; and strategic and logistical support for meetings, visits, missions, amongst other.
Roles and responsibilities:
• Research: help in the formulation of market studies for British companies and the online management of customers; maintenance of the team’s project database, and assistance in the identification of new contractual opportunities for British businesses.
• Event coordination: support to the organisation of official events and visits, including the preparation of agendas, arrangement of meetings and all related logistic activities.
• Relations with stakeholders: develop and maintain contact with local (private and public) stakeholders, keeping record of all activities in the team’s databases.
• Provide cross-cutting support to the DBT team (and other Embassy sections if needed) as required and perform other tasks as requested the Director and Deputy Director of DBT mainly, and by Commercial Officers when requested.
• Administrative: Support Information Management of the team, organise meetings and support logistics, amongst other clerical and pastoral responsibilities.

• Must be currently enrolled in undergraduate studies in International Business, Marketing, Finance, International Relations, Business Management, Economics, Industrial Engineering or similar degrees in a Colombian university. Applicants who do not meet this requirement will not be considered;
• Availability of at least 6 months before their graduation date, in order to complete the internship. Applicants who do not meet this requirement will not be considered;
• Availability to start their internship in the proposed date (We are currently recruiting several interns at the Department for Business & Trade. Successful candidates will start the role in May / June 2024);
• Bilingual (Spanish and English); and
• Good knowledge of Microsoft Office.
Language requirements:
Language: Advanced command of written and spoken English and Spanish (Spanish and English testing will be given during interview stage).

Must have the legal status to live and work in Colombia.
The successful candidate must be enrolled in undergraduate studies in International Business, Marketing, Finance, International Relations, Business Management, Economics, Industrial Engineering or similar degrees, in a Colombian university. It is mandatory that the candidates are students with availability of at least 6 months before their graduation date, in order to complete the internship.
The candidate understands and agrees to the starting date.
Social Security: EPS and ARL.

Successful candidate will have access to some internal training and job shadowing, as well as the opportunity (depending on interest and availability) to work on cross-embassy teams or projects.

Employees who are not liable to pay local income tax on their Mission salary, eg some non-local national staff and some spouses or partners of UK diplomatic staff, will have their salaries abated by an equivalent amount. If during the reserve period of 6-12 months the same or a largely similar role becomes available, that role may be offered to the second or subsequent candidate.
Full time. Monday to Thursday: 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. and Friday: 8:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.
