Act as the Administrative Officer and undertake driving duties for the Section, working to the CBS Defence Executive Officer. Maintain the Section administrative records and operating according to MOD and FCDO rules.
Roles and responsibilities:
These will include, but not be limited to:
- Maintaining the MOD files on MS Teams.
- Maintaining records according to MOD regulations.
- Maintaining records of MOD expenditure.
- Writing emails and letters to both Uruguay and UK MODs.
- Driving the Defence Section vehicle on official business and maintaining all records according to MOD rules.
- Booking travel.
- Engaging with Defence Section contacts to co-ordinate meetings and activities.
- Event support.
- Conducting basic research and summarising press articles.
- Being a key part of the broader British Embassy Team.
- Maintaining and updating contact lists.
Resources managed:
- Maintenance of UK MOD accounts records in accordance with their rules and guidance.
- Holder of a Government Procurement Card (GPC) in order to commit expenditure.

- Qualified to use MS Office, especially Word and Excel.
- Full Uruguayan driving licence, with at least 3 years driving experience.
- Confident in city and national highway driving.
- Working level of English and fluent Spanish.

Employees who are not liable to pay local income tax on their Mission salary, e.g. some non-local national staff and some spouses or partners of UK diplomatic staff, will have their salaries abated by an equivalent amount.
Appointable candidates who were unsuccessful may be placed on a ‘reserve list. If during the reserve period of 6-12 (please state) the same or largely similar role becomes available, that role may be offered to the second of subsequent candidate.
