The British Embassy in Dublin is part of a world-wide network, representing UK political, economic and consular interests overseas, and is now recruiting for a Deputy Post Security and Transport Manager position.
Main purpose of job:
Our new Deputy Post Security and Transport Manager will support the implementation of the FCDO Security Strategy and all associated security policies to ensure the security and safety of all staff, information, assets and estate across the FCDO platform in Ireland under the direction of the Post Security Manager. The successful candidate will work on Health and Safety policy in the Embassy under the direction of the Post Security Manager and act as Deputy Fire Safety Manager. They will also act to assist with the development of, and promote and enforce, the Embassy’s policies and procedures in the areas of security and transport. They will carry out and record a range of regular checks on alarms, vehicles, and property.
Under the direction of the Post Security Manager they will be responsible for the updating of Embassy Fire and Health & Safety Policies and procedures, and updating of Post Security Regulations and Transport policies, ensuring that such policies are clearly communicated, and that all staff know how to respond in a crisis.
The successful candidate will be the Transport Manager for the embassy fleet of vehicles ensuring the fleet is kept in good condition and that transport arrangements are in place for the Ambassador and for visiting officials as required.
Roles and responsibilities:
- Working under the direction of the Post Security Manager to ensure that all suitable security arrangements are in place at the Embassy and at the Residence;
- Maintain and continually develop all security-related administrative areas including MS TEAMS, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and Post Security Regulations (PSRs) as directed by the Post Security Manager including Health and Safety policies;
- Working with the PSM and Regional Overseas Security Manager to ensure that all visits by the Oversea Security Advisor and external contacts are prepared in advance. This includes arranging programmes, organising meetings and taking minutes;
- Manage Dublin’s Post Security Committee meetings and Health and Safety meetings that are chaired by the Deputy Ambassador, including recording minutes, ensuring appropriate distribution, and completing or following up on actions;
- Acting as Transport Manager to ensure that all vehicles are maintained in good order and that all road safety authority legislation is complied with Deputy to the Post Security Manager providing cover when the PSM is absent;
- The successful candidate may also undertake driving duties as required;
- Will be required on occasion to be on call out of hours;
- Other duties as directed by the Post Security Manager.
Our Ideal Candidate shows:
- Fluency in both oral and written English (minimum of C1 level for CEFR framework*);
- Previous experience in the security industry (army, police, private security, public service etc.);
- Flexibility and a willingness to work outside office hours as required;
- Clean driving licence;
- Excellent Team worker, motivating and building productive working relationships;
- Flexible with a “can do” attitude;
- Ability to work independent and under pressure;
- Excellent organizational skills with a sense of discipline and integrity.
Nice to have:
- Past experience in a UK or Irish public sector/government/police/military environment;
- Recognised Security qualification(s) / relevant academic qualifications.

The successful candidate will be subject to a six-month probationary period and will be employed on a fixed-term contract basis for 24 months with the possibility of renewal. The appointment is subject to satisfactory reference and security checks.
All L&D required on FCDO/UK government standards and systems will be provided.
