The British Embassy in Tbilisi is part of a worldwide network, representing British political, economic and consular interests overseas and we are now looking for a Driver, S1 grade in Tbilisi.
The jobholder will be the part of the corporate services section and will be responsible for providing driving services for the Embassy.
What the role entails:
- Driving Embassy staff and visitors in an official vehicle (including regional trips and airport transfers).
- Delivering official mail, invitations, procurement items.
- Keeping the assigned vehicle clean and serviceable in line with Embassy’s transport policy and manufacturer’s manual; assistance with preparation of vehicle maintenance plans.
- Ensure day-to-day maintenance of the assigned vehicle through timely minor repairs, arrangements for major repairs, timely changes of oil, check of tires, brakes, car washing, etc.
- Ensure that the vehicles are equipped with necessary supplies for local and regional travel (maps, first aid kit, spares, etc)
- Keeping an accurate record of all journeys in a vehicle log book
- Ensuring that timesheets are maintained and submitted on time.
- Compliance with Embassy’s transport policy.
- When required, assistance with customs clearance procedures.
- Providing assistance with courier runs.
- Organising registration of diplomatic vehicles.
- Performing low level procurement of goods and services for the Embassy; timely accounting for spend as per financial and procurement regulations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Our ideal candidate has:
- A valid driving license (Impeccable driving record with clean driving license).
- Minimum 6 years of driving experience. (*Driving skills will be tested.)
- The ability to work flexible hours, including occasional early mornings and evenings.
- Good customer service and communication skills.
- Fluent in Georgian, including writing skills (written and spoken, minimum of C1 level for CEFR framework*).
- Knowledge of communicable English, including writing skills (written and spoken, minimum of B2 level for CEFR framework*).

Good to have:
- Experience of working for an international organisation.
- Experience in driving diplomatic or VIP personnel.
- Knowledge of Russian language is desirable (written and spoken, B2 level for CEFR framework*).

This is a full-time, permanent position, of 40 hours gross per week, Monday to Friday from 9:00am to 17:00pm. Some flexibility may be needed occasionally (either early morning or late evening) depending on requirement.
The gross monthly salary is 2,637 GEL (gross). Please note that staff members are responsible for paying any income tax and state pension contributions required by local law.
The successful candidate will have learning and development opportunities open to them including driving courses as recommended within the EECAD region. The jobholder will also have access to FCDO recommended trainings.
The successful candidate will be subject to professional background checks and security clearance verification.
Staff recruited locally by the British Embassy in Tbilisi are subject to local Terms and Conditions of Service.
Visa/work permit requirements: Candidates must currently hold the independent right to live and work in Georgia and be prepared to ensure that right remains throughout the scope of the assignment. The British Embassy does not sponsor applications for work permits.
