Main Purpose of Job:
The British Embassy Warsaw has a vacancy for a well-organised Driver with great driving skills and experience, focused on completing day-to-day tasks according to a schedule and on time. Our Driver will play a key role in the safe delivery of a wide range of duties, especially driving of people around the areas of Warsaw and Poland, delivering and collecting documents, letters, goods, and packages around the Embassy, and to/from local government ministries or organisations. In general, you will be assigned to one official car and will be responsible for its maintenance and readiness to drive. You will work to the Embassy’s health and safety, welfare and driving standards for the benefit of all staff at the Embassy in a ‘zero harm’ culture. You will help reduce the Embassy’s carbon footprint through greater use of renewable energy, reduction in waste and the increase of sustainable practices. You will be expected to be able to manage continued change with a positive attitude.

Roles and responsibilities:

- Fluency at C1 level in Polish and B1 level in English according to the CEFR*;
- Minimum of 5 years proven driving experience preferably in a similar role;
- Valid drivers license with no endorsements;
- Excellent knowledge of the Polish traffic laws and regulations;
- Understanding of basic motor vehicle functionality and familiarity with maintenance requirements;
- High level of concentration and ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team;
- Capable of working under high pressure;
- Excellent communication skills.

This is a full-time, fixed-term position of 5 days (37.5 hours net per week), for a period of 2 years.
The gross salary for this position is PLN 6,540 gross per month. Working hours are flexible and staff are entitled to time-off-in-lieu for agreed extra hours worked. The annual leave entitlement is 20 or 26 days per year pro rata and the Embassy also enjoys a maximum of 14 Polish / UK public holidays per year.
Please note that staff members are responsible for paying any income tax required by the local law.
The successful candidate will be subject to the Polish references check and satisfactory completion of a probationary period of three months.
Candidates must have pre-existing right to live and work in Poland for the duration of the job offer in order to apply. The British Embassy does not sponsor work permits.
Staff recruited locally by the British Embassy in Warsaw are subject to Terms and Conditions of Service according to Polish employment law.
Visa / Passport requirements: Candidates must currently hold the independent right to live and work in Poland and be prepared to ensure that right remains throughout the scope of the contract. Please note that it is your responsibility to ensure you meet the legal requirements to live and work in this country.
Working pattern:
British Embassy Warsaw has a strong commitment to work/life balance. Standard office hours are 8.30-16.30 with flexi-hours possibility within the opening hours 08.00-18.00. We also have mobile technology and offer hybrid working with remote working days to be agreed with line managers.
