Main purpose of job:
To support UK government understanding of economic issues in Jamaica (and wider region) by delivering economic reporting.
Roles and responsibilities:
- Provide economic reporting and analysis on Jamaica and the broader Caribbean region in liaison with the Political & Comms team, Development team and the Economic Adviser.
- Highlight and communicate key economic statistics, news and events in a concise and timely manner, working with the Political Secretary and Economic Adviser to understand and communicate their wider significance.
- Keep (excel) economic database up to data and accessible on Microsoft Teams.
- Support Economic Adviser with reviewing any key Multilateral Development Bank (MDB) reports and key regional economic reports.
- Assist with planning and logistics for economic missions, other visits and areas of work involving the Political & Communications team.

Essential on arrival:
- Undergraduate degree in majority economics
- The ability to read and interpret data accurately
- Intermediate to advanced computer literacy across all MS platforms and other data platforms, including excel, with the ability to learn new computer software quickly
- Excellent planning and administrative skills
- The ability to work flexibly within the team and occasionally work remotely if required
- Excellent written and oral communications skills
- Good Interpersonal skills
- Ability to work as part of a larger, virtual team
- References, preferably professional, will be requested

Employees who are not liable to pay local income tax on their Mission salary, e.g. some non-local national staff and some spouses or partners of UK diplomatic staff, will have their salaries abated by an equivalent amount.
