Economic and Prosperity
The Economics Team, one of five groups in the Embassy’s Development Section, is at the heart of the Embassy’s work. The Team works closely with many other parts of the Embassy. In Development Section, for example, we collaborate with the Climate and Programmes Teams on finance and investment for development. Other examples of collaboration include working with i) the Commercial Section on financial inclusion and commercial opportunities; ii) the Trade Policy Team on support to the UK’s ongoing negotiations with Mexico to conclude a new Free Trade Agreements (FTA); and iii) the Political Section on reporting and organising high level visits. We have an incredible opportunity to support the development of the Embassy’s economic agenda.
The successful candidate will have the chance to contribute to this agenda by providing in-depth analysis on key economic and financial issues related to Mexico. He or she will be able to shape our priorities by proposing topics that he or she considers important and of interest, in consultation with the wider Team.
This is an exciting and challenging position, which covers a wide range of analytical and policy tasks as well as administrative and logistical ones. It will involve contact with most sections of the Embassy and a range of external contacts in Mexico and the UK. We often work under time pressure in a fast-paced environment.
