To plan, organize and manage the work of two Estates Officers and by extension a big team of Technical Works Group (TWG) staff and all British High Commission (BHC) estates, assets, and accommodation properties to a professional and efficient standard consistent with BHC policies.
Roles and responsibilities
- Being the primary customer and supplier-facing point of contact on all estates-related issues for the BHC
- Hold responsibility for the management of the BHC’s residential and office estate at our five locations in Freetown.
- Proactive and reactive maintenance and building works (and associated procurement and contract management)
- Lead on Health and Safety issues in line with policy and international best practice (including building standards, workplace risk assessments, workstation assessments and fire safety and incident reporting).
- Management of TWG stores/office.
- Ensure housing is provided on arrival, prepared to a good standard, and fully equipped, and in line with the BHC’s housing policy; and disseminate the policy to staff before they arrive.
- Tracking and supporting the team to prioritise new maintenance request Prompting and reviewing instant feedback from customers of the estates/maintenance service
- Responsibility for ensuring that PLANON (central database for BHC property portfolio) data on all estates is accurately and promptly updated, including state of furniture and housing packs, and maintain asset register (regularly forwarded to Head of Corporate Services for cross check).
- Scrutiny of maintenance costs on HERA (a cloud-based enterprise resource management system for the FCDOs Finance and HR functions) for inclusion in PLANON records.

Working patterns:
- This is a Monday to Friday role, with frequent supervisory travel required to our sites in Freetown.
