Poland is an important partner for the UK. The British Embassy Warsaw works to develop relations between all parts of Poland and all parts of the UK. Our work covers the breadth of the bilateral relationship, including political, commercial, security and economic issues of interest to both the UK and Poland, which we deliver under the framework of a Country Business Plan setting out key objectives. Roles and responsibilities might evolve, in line with the Country Business Plan.
The British Embassy in Warsaw is seeking a highly motivated and capable professional Exports Support Officer to join its high-profile Defence Industry Team. Reporting to the Director for Defence Exports, this role offers a unique opportunity to work at the heart of the UK’s defence engagement in Poland, supporting strategic export objectives and strengthening bilateral partnerships.
Working closely with the Defence Attaché and the UK Ministry of Defence, as well as colleagues across the Embassy, the successful candidate will engage directly with business and government stakeholders to promote UK defence exports. The role combines strategic insight with operational delivery, including leading the organisation of major Embassy events, delivering business development activity, and providing market intelligence to inform decision-making.
Roles and Responsibilities:
You will play a central role in strengthening relationships between UK industry and Polish counterparts, acting as the primary point of contact for UK small and medium-sized enterprises seeking to enter or expand within the Polish defence market. This will involve identifying opportunities, facilitating introductions, and supporting companies to navigate the local landscape. Over time, there will be scope to take ownership of targeted campaigns and lead priority sub-sector portfolios, such as space or unmanned capabilities.
The position also involves supporting high-level UK–Poland engagements, including ministerial visits and senior official meetings. You will contribute to the planning and delivery of these engagements, ensuring smooth execution and providing essential secretariat support. Alongside this, you will monitor and analyse market developments, producing concise and insightful updates that shape the team’s approach.
Event delivery is a core component of the role. You will design and oversee high-profile Embassy events, managing budgets, coordinating logistics, and working with internal and external partners to deliver impactful outcomes. Your work will directly contribute to raising the profile of UK defence capabilities and facilitating meaningful commercial opportunities.
As part of a dynamic and collaborative team, you will also support wider objectives by contributing to stakeholder engagement, attending industry events and conferences, and assisting with priority projects. The role offers significant exposure to senior Embassy leadership and provides excellent opportunities for professional development. It can also be tailored to reflect the successful candidate’s experience and expertise.
This is an exciting and diverse role for someone with strong organisational skills, stakeholder management capability, and an interest in defence and international trade. Occasional travel within Poland and to the UK is expected.
Don’t miss out on this opportunity!
