Main Purpose of Job:

This is an exciting opportunity to work with some of the UK’s most dynamic and important sectors. Working with the Food & Drink and Agriculture Team you will support the delivery of activities that aim to increase and promote UK exports to Brazil. The Food & Drink sector encompasses a number of iconic and traditional products from the UK, including Scotch Whisky, Gin, Salmon, Chocolates and others. In agriculture, the UK has a vast expertise in animal genetics, precision agriculture and technological solutions to efficient and sustainable farming.

You will be supporting the team with administrative and back-office support to activities related to trade promotion, market access, marketing intelligence and overseas direct investment, such as pipeline and system entries management, organisation of events, marketing and communications campaigns.

When appropriate, you will have the opportunity to participate at commercial meetings, tradeshows and external events in order to develop your professional skills and experience to enhance your future career prospects.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Providing administrative and back-office support to the Food & Drink, Consumables and Agriculture Team;
  • Keeping an updated record of interactions with clients in our internal data systems;
  • Assisting in the preparation of market research reports, internal briefings, visiting programmes for clients;
  • Administrative support in the organisation of events;
  • Supporting the team in identifying business opportunities for UK companies;
  • Support in the organisation of travel agendas and logistic arrangements for the team, as well as to potential trade missions;
  • Accompanying meetings with Brazilian and UK companies, both virtually and in person;
  • Assisting the sector team in the analysis of trade data, news, and sector information related to the Food & Drink, Consumables and Agriculture sector.
  • Assisting in the creation of a monthly newsletter to our database and broad communication campaigns;
  • Other relevant activities.

Proactive self-starter, collaborative, responsible and opened to learn and receive feedback. Being organized and consistent are key qualities, Any past internship, especially if working in the public sector.

Essential HMG training will be given at the beginning of the Internship, with on-the-job training available throughout.

Must have the legal status to live and work in Brazil .Employees who are not liable to pay local income tax on their Mission salary, eg some non-local national staff and some spouses or partners of UK diplomatic staff, will have their salaries abated by an equivalent amount. Appointable candidates who were unsuccessful may be placed on a ‘reserve list’. If during the reserve period of 6-12 months the same or a largely similar role becomes available, that role may be offered to the second or subsequent candidate.
