Who are we?
The British Embassy in Podgorica, Montenegro is part of a world-wide network which represents British political, economic and consular interests overseas. The Embassy is now looking to recruit a full-time HMA Driver / Security guard, who can act as a driver of HM Ambassador and Security Guard and run minor administrative tasks. The person will be responsible for ensuring the safe driving of HM Ambassador, DHM and guests, security of the Embassy, Residence and staff and for administrative tasks related to these roles.
What are you expected to achieve:
Driver duties and responsibilities 50%:
- Safe driving of HMA, DHM and guest during working hours and every third week after business hours;
- Good care of official cars when on duty and acting according to Overseas Transportation Rules;
- Administration and maintenance of official vehicles (car registration, insurance policies, road assistance, mandatory car equipment, regular and unscheduled car maintenance, tyre replacement, car refuelling, car washing, preparation of vehicles for drives out of Podgorica, ensure the vehicle log books and car documents are up to date and comply with local regulations etc.).
Security guard tasks and responsibilities 40%:
- Proactive and vigilant approach in securing the Embassy and Residence premises and official vehicles;
- Supporting Security Manager on issues of physical safety and security of the Embassy, Residence, properties and its employees, on all check-ups of premises and implementation of security procedures;
- Unlocking and locking the Embassy;
- Access control, providing all gates are fully operational and unobstructed for normal use;
- CCTV surveillance;
- Visual control of safety threats at entry points (physical assets, heating elements, lights and other electronic devices);
- Foot patrols around the Embassy and Residence;
- Before leaving at the end of each working day check external windows and doors of the Embassy and, if needed, Residence to ensure that all are properly secured;
- Access authorisation for employees, customers and contractors and their escort and supervision when needed;
- Manage incoming telephone calls, forward where necessary, take notes if needed and provide immediate response where necessary;
- Testing and answering alarms and responding to other security disturbances;
- Control of access tags register and issuance, control of keys, evidence of tags used, remote keys (gates and alarms);
- Keeping visitor log book;
- Security check of arriving mail, diplomatic mail, shipments and deliveries and their further distribution;
- To act as a first point of contact for Embassy and Residence visitors taking into account good customer relationship competences;
- Dealing with walk in cases according to standard procedures;
- Providing information to calling customers;
- Assist Consular section with managing their customers by providing agreed level of assistance;
- Physical security during events in the Embassy and Residence and, when needed, outside these premises.
Other duties and responsibilities 10%:
- Logistic support to Embassy employees (courier service – post and other shipments collection and delivery, minor procurement, purchase of office materials etc.);
- Administration tasks (evidence of GPC and CCC usage through Hera, evidence on overtime and TOIL hours, prompt email checks and responses, opportune annual leave Application etc.);
- Run keys register and tools register;
- Coordination with external contractors on gate, power generators, lift and disabled platform maintenance;
- Other duties as agreed with Security Manager.

Our ideal candidate shows:
- A clean driving licence (category B) and at least 2 years professional driving experience;
- Excellent knowledge of the local area;
- Good level of written and oral communication skills in local language and English at a C1 level;
- Basic IT working knowledge skills;
- Ability to work as part of a team and respond flexibly to changing circumstances;
- Good level of personal initiative and the ability to manage own time and workload efficiently;
- Availability to work shifts, weekends, nights and holidays.

This is a full-time permanent contract for 40 working hours per week. Working pattern: Monday – Thursday 08:00 – 16:30, Friday 08:00 – 14:00. Occasional rotation shifts Mon to Thurs 13.30 to 22.00.
The successful appointment is subject to confirmation of a background check, security clearance and medical clearance.
Staff recruited locally by the British Embassy in Podgorica are subject to Terms and Conditions of Service according to local Montenegro employment law.
Visa/work permit requirements: Candidates must currently hold the independent right to live and work in Montenegro and be prepared to ensure that right remains throughout the scope of the contract.
