The British Embassy in Israel has an exciting opportunity for an Investment Manager to join the Department for Business and Trade (DBT).

The team is part of a worldwide network, representing British political, economic, and consular interests overseas.

This position will play a key role in our existing Investment team, supporting the identification and classification of companies in Israel that require support to initiate Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) into the UK, as well as companies that are looking to carry out large and Capital Investment (CI) projects in the UK.

 The successful candidate will report to the Deputy Director and work in collaboration with headquarters, FDI and CI teams in DBT Europe and the UK, ensuring local priorities align with the larger organisational context.

Duties and responsibilities: 

Delivery:

  • Build and manage a pipeline of Israeli companies with the potential to expand into the UK and invest in operations and jobs, as well as providing account management as necessary to existing investors.
  • Successfully deliver high-value FDI projects from initial contact with Israeli companies to successful landing in the UK with agreed yearly performance measures.
  • Delivery of general FDI and CI related work including lead generation, investment meetings, event organisation and delivery, VIP visits and related briefing and reporting according to Embassy and DBT requirements.
  • Offer high quality advice to companies and be able to approach potential FDI and CI targets in a professional and persuasive manner.
  • Work with large Israeli investment companies and funds to facilitate CI projects into the UK, highlighting the strengths of the UK’s market proposition to potential investors.

Communication:

  • Build solid rapport with key clients in order to increase their interest in investing in the UK through information about UK market opportunities, policy and regulatory changes. Build up a thorough understanding of client requirements and needs.
  • Work closely with other teams in the Embassy (such as, UK-Israel Tech Hub, Science and Innovation, Political etc) to ensure a joined-up approach to UK prosperity objectives in Israel.
  • Forge strong relationships with Israeli stakeholders’ business leaders, trade associations and other key partners.

Public engagement:

  • Manage and/or support visits, including by senior government officials and VIPs by securing high-level meetings, organising activities, and preparing briefing materials.
  • Work and engage credibly at the highest level; Represent DBT at external events, including occasional speaking engagements.

    The above list is not exhaustive, and the jobholder will be required to be flexible and take on other ad hoc tasks as required, including participating in the Embassy’s emergency planning and any other response to a crisis affecting UK Citizens.

    Eligibility:

    If you are selected for this position, we will be able to employ you as long as you:

    • Receive the appropriate level of security clearance; and
    • Are able to work legally in Israel.

    Working hours and remuneration:

    The Embassy aims to offer an attractive working environment and remuneration package for this role, including a non-negotiable salary of ILS 14,000 per month plus transport allowance and social benefits: Pension employer contribution 7.5% and Keren Hishtalmut employer contribution 7.5%.

    No accommodation nor relocation expenses are payable in connection with this position. Parking facilities are not provided nor paid for by the Embassy.

    This position is for a full-time employment, on a permanent contract, subject to a 4-month probationary period.

    Working hours is 37.5 per week. Core working hours for the role are Monday to Thursday 8:00-16:00 and Friday 8:00-13:30. The British Embassy operates flexible working hours that enable some variation in daily start and finish times, and these can be agreed with the line manager. Some flexibility will be expected to attend activities out of hours. This is a hybrid position, with a minimum of two days per week being worked in the office.

    Any flexible working patterns may be considered based on operational requirements and agreement with the line manager, and in line with FCDO and Embassy policies.

    The role will require travel within Israel and occasional travel to DBT Posts within Europe and to the UK.

    Process:

    The recruitment process, including security clearance, is expected to take around two-three months. The security clearance process includes checks available in country and with UK, dependant on the security level required for the role and the candidates profile and UK footprint. You may experience some delay in the progress of this recruitment campaign, and we are working hard to minimise any disruption.

    Appointable candidates who were unsuccessful at interview may be placed on a ‘reserve list’. If during the reserve period of six (6) months the same or a largely similar role becomes available, that role may be offered to the second or subsequent candidate.
