The British Embassy in Israel is part of a worldwide network, representing British political, economic and consular interests overseas and has an exciting opportunity for a Political Adviser.
This is an exciting opportunity to work on a high-profile and fast-moving policy area, developing expertise on one of the most complex and closely watched issues in the region. Working across political analysis, stakeholder engagement and policy support, the successful candidate will build a strong network of contacts, deliver insightful reporting on complex developments, and play an important role in helping the Embassy understand and respond to rapidly evolving political, legal and human rights issues.
Working with the wider Political Section, the role will provide analysis and reporting, and on Israel’s policy towards and actions in the West Bank, Gaza and East Jerusalem.

Working hours and remuneration:
The Embassy aims to offer an attractive working environment and remuneration package for this role, including a non-negotiable salary of ILS 15,300 per month plus transport allowance and social benefits as required by the law.
No accommodation nor relocation expenses are payable in connection with this position. Parking facilities are not provided nor paid for by the Embassy.
This position is for a full-time employment, on fixed-term contract of ten (10) months from mid-October 2026 maternity leave, with a possible extension, subject to a 3-month probationary period.
Working hours is 37.5 per week. Normal working hours are Monday to Thursday 8:00-16:00 and Friday 8:00-13:30. This is a hybrid position with a minimum of two days a week in the office. The position may require occasional travel in country.
Any flexible working patterns may be considered based on operational requirements and agreement with the line manager, and in line with FCDO and Embassy policies.

Process:
The recruitment process, including security clearance, is expected to take around two-three months. The security clearance process includes checks available in country and with UK, dependant on the security level required for the role and the candidates’ profile and UK footprint. You may experience some delay in the progress of this recruitment campaign, and we are working hard to minimise any disruption.
Appointable candidates who were unsuccessful at interview may be placed on a ‘reserve list’. If during the reserve period of six (6) months the same or a largely similar role becomes available, that role may be offered to the second or subsequent candidate.
The start date mentioned in the job advert is a tentative start date and the successful candidate will be required to undergo security-vetting procedures. Any offer of employment will be subject to the candidate achieving suitable clearances.
